View Full Version : Retrofitting 20vt suspension
fitted 20vt ibiza suspension (cheers saul!) to my girlfriends N reg 1.4 yesterday - fits a treat. used terra lowering springs (thanks jase!) but to be honest they didn't look any different to the 20vt ones - just stiffer.
Handles like a dream now, and looks sensibly low on 17's.

Pictures pleeez!!!
:D
you got me thinking, they say that the turrets are different yet the top mount rubbers look the same as do the spring capsand these are the parts that sit in the turrets(springs don't touch em do they?).
my thinking is this,96>eibach springs for my ibiza to get the frnt end up a touch and improve the handling even more, may be worth comparing some springs up
might be jase - some manufacturers may make their springs different sizes or something, but the stock 1.4's,20vt and terras all look identical width, slight height and coil difference - but nothing to stop them fitting.
The shocks themselves are pretty much identical, (except there is no clip for the brake hose), the lower shaft is slightly wider as the rubber boots needed real force to slide down over it, but the top shafts the same.

I have some 20VT springs after my H&R transplant if anyone is after a set for a 1400.

Dormouse:How do the 20vt dampers and H&R's go together as I have a similar set up awaiting fitting? (to a TDI)
Any advice and comments would be greatly appreciated
Thanks....

prolly get more of a lowering affect than i do (cos your deisel is naturally higher) great ride improvment ans a little better turn in.
Not huge ammounts of roll improvement although you'll probably be over the moon if it's a diesel your fitting too.
My mate recons it doesn't roll much when he's following me, which is praise indeed seeing as he has pss9.

Thanks Dormouse, look forward to fitting them with interest.
Strange set-up on TDI as standard firmish on the front due to heavy engine but soft as ---- on the back and way too much body roll - not as bad on mk3 as mk2 though
mk3 TDI Sport is very firm all round and quite crashy for a standard model in the brief drive I've had in one went for the H&R's for their reputation for a softer ride..... :boun:
