Need some advice people.

Want to transport my mountain bike on an 02 Leon. Put off from buying the official SEAT kit because of price.

Went and bought a Thule 4305 / 510 combination. Tried to fit the 4305 this afternoon and came to the conclusion that to get the rack on the car securely is next to impossible without damaging bodywork/doors.

Has anybody managed to fit this rack successfully on a newish Leon ?

I'm sorely tempted to go and get a rack from the dealer, with fingers crossed that the 510 will be compatible with the dealer rack.

Just as an aside, has anybody managed to refit the plastic cover over the towing eye so that it is flush with the rest of the trim ?

you had the same problem with the towing eye cover as well then!

I attempted it about eight or nine times before I got it to fit. Cant remember how I did it now, other than by hurting my fist!

I've tried hitting it as well and all that happens is my fist bounces off and nearly takes the rest of the plastic off !!

Love it where the manual says :

"First insert the flanges into their housings. Gently press the edges of the cover with your hand until it is perfectly in place"

Aaaaaagh. And they all lived happily everafter.

Wish I'd never taken the bloody thing off in the first place.

I have the 4305, it pretty much sucks. It's a pain to get on and the noise it makes at highway speeds is incredible (I think it has to do with the holding mechanism). Get the Seat Rack, I'm sure it's much better. The 510 should fit.

Thanks prc.

Got the SEAT rack today and it's MUCH better. Pity about the £130 needed to buy it.

Can confirm that the 510 fits no problem.

I think Thule should be done under the trades description act.
