O.k. guys, pleas help me on this one,,,
I want to buy a 1.9Tdi 110hp Ibiza, the 2000MY. So I got to get a used one. The problem is that here in Rome there aren't a lot of those cars. I found one. The owner has chipped it to 130hp and has lowered it by 2.5 cm (1 inch) just using harder-lower springs.
2 questions now:
-Do you think that the turbo pressure shift (just to 130hp) can lead to engine damage in any way? I don't know how much the pressure has been raised (I'm gonna ask) but I know that It can only be raised by 0.3-0.4 bars to leave the engine work properly and endure. Is this true?
-The roads here in Roma, Italy are sometimes very shitty, and a mechanix who has examinated the cars (which is overall in almost perfect conditions) told me that it almost doesn't absorb any shock on the rear axle. Can this lead to any seriuos damage to suspensions or any other part or drastically lower the tires endurance?
thx a lot, this site is great!!!

I wouldn't really be concerned about the things (chip & lowering) you wrote about. The diesel engines are quite durable, 130BHP is still safe for the TDI! As for shitty roads and shock absorbers, max some rattling panels but no serious things i suppose. You'll have a powerful & nice looking TDI at least ;)

ok thanx a lot man.
I've asked, the pressure has been raised by 0.2 bars (with 0.3-0.4 being safety margins).
Now I agree with what you said but I've heard that the cylinder head of this engine is just a little bit weak. I confide in the guys who made the chip job and don't think the engine will fail.
But sometimes me and a friend of mine (who's got a '96 Renault Clio 1.8 16V 135hp, beautiful car but what'bout fuel consumption compared to my Ibiza??) use to go to holland. 1600 at almost 200kph all the time in less than one day. If this winter I'll go with my car I'm quite worried about making the engine work all the time at that high rpm. What do you think?
Anyway this is not a real problem, I'm gonna buy the car anyway, I'll get to holland at 180kph rather than 200 all the time.
Thanx again.
