Can anyone please recommend an insurance company that is really cheap, i dont have much no-claims history, plus I am a guy, so thats even worse.

Am getting a Brand New Pre-reg Cupra R 225 in a couple of weeks and dont want to pay exhobitant insurance rates.

Many thanks

What NCB do you have? The cheapest by far are Greenlight and Adrian Flux who are brokers, they WILL get you a cheaper price then the other TV type insurance companies. Alot of it comes down to postcode

So why buy a car that's insurance group 17? Just take it like a man - you're not going to get a bargain.

Haven't tried Greenlight or Flux - heard they're good if you're looking to modify. I got my cheapest quotes from Elephant.com. Only thing to do is shop around.

Depends greatly on your age i guess... its not gonna be cheap though.. put it this way.. i got my LCR at 21 with 1 years NCB.. it was over £2k a year... that was with elephant and was the cheapest i could find at the time.. 5 months on and now 22 ive just switched to prudential and saved myself just over 800 quid.

you dont get a leon cupra r if you want really cheap insurance.

you get a 1.0 micra or somethin.

im afraid if you want the car, youve got to accept the other costs of owning and running it.

I dont know if its differnt with other insurance companies.. but get an online quote.. then stick your parents on as named drivers. Providing they havent made any claims..

It made the differnce between me getting the LCR and not getting it. That was with elephant.

Worth a shot :)

What does that mean..?

Probably that he has either held his license for 5 years, or that he has only had a car worth owning for 5 years ;)

Seadragon, I don't think the other chaps were being unhelpful, I think they are trying to say there is no such thing as 'cheap' car insurance (certainly not in the UK anyway), so buying a car with a insurance group rating and very little no claims bonus, I think you might be in for an unpleasant time. I personally would have checked this before buying a car. Of course, the usual things such as uprated security, putting the car in a garage at night, having a parent/partner on the policy may help, but its still going to be expensive. Goes with the territory. Good luck though.

I was just brightening the thread up for a friday :)

I am with Privilege, £400, like others have said, you can save ££££'s just by shopping about, but surely you priced this up already..???

Why dont you try : -
Swiftcover
Admiral
Direct line
Tesco's
Elephant

Theres loads and just tell them all your cheapest quote is £600 so they need to beat it.

And as said before if you can add people on to the insurance it drops it alot, I have my girlfriend on there too and it droped it by £100
