I'm just about to order a 20VT and am looking for some advice off you guys before doing so:

Is the Seat UK website up to date with it's technical information - it lists TCS and EDS as standard, is this correct? Also I'm told that Bronze Metallic is no longer available but the website still lists this, any ideas?

I know it's a personal thing, but which colour would you recommend (quality of finish, ease of looking after, resale etc.)?

Any other information you think may be useful would be appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation.

from my experience with my "Black Magic" Leon it really does look the part when its polished up, but every mark, and bit of dirt shows :). aside from that the paint finish seems very good and its very easy to clean.

as for resale value i couldnt comment :)

Yes, my Black Magic Leon does show the dirt, in fact if I clean it, its covered in dust in the morning. But that's all part of the fun, the cleaning that is.

When it is clean, its certainly a head turner, give it some wax and it looks stunning.

The Leon also looks good in Imperial Blue IMO

As for the EDS, I dont think UK Leon's come with this option any longer.

The blue is the best colour I think for staying clean looking. My yellow Leon is a nightmare for showing dirt, but when she's clean or wet, she looks gorgeous, especially in the sun.

As far as I was aware, the EDS was never removed - it was only the ESP that was removed when they chopped the top spec Cupra in for the re-badged Sport versions. (God, we're in acronym hell here - TCS, EDS, ESP, WTF, LOL );) ) The TCS and EDS are all tied in to the one braking system I think, so it would be difficult for the EDS to be taken out in my mind.

I've just taken delivery of a Leon Cupra in Arctic grey metallic. So far it seems to be staying quite clean. As for all the driver aids I'm pretty sure the spec hasn't changed, so all Cupras?Sports should have EBD.

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Have almost decided on Imperial Blue but before ordering just wanted to check if this colour is subject to the paint defects mentioned previously on this forum (paint swirls etc.)? Maybe this problem has been resolved now?

It can mark quite easily, a trait of modern paints unfortunatly, and being a darker colour it can show up swirls and marks usually not as apparent on lighter coloured cars.

But i would ask about the possibility of a paint protection product.

Amethyst offer a service called DiamondBrite whihc protects the paint and hardens the finish against acid rain, bird lime etc.

Well worth it on your investment.

I protect my own car with Zymol wax, which though time consuming is very good indeed.

I would of taken the option of paint protection but it was never offered to me, and you can notice in small areas before i began to use Zymol, that paint has been perforated by bird lime etc.

Nothing i think to do with just Imperial Blue colour, just that the modern paints with their softer non lead finishes are more prone to damage, and the darker colours tend to show up this damage more apparently.

If you can go with some paint protection ask the dealer or a bodyshop about it. :)

The dealer I bought mine off tried to sell my the paint treatment (and also the interior treatment). I asked for a copy of the small print - she said that nobody ever asked for that. She faxed me a copy, the thing that caught my eye was the time limits - it insists you wash your car (I think) every 2 weeks. Bird muck off within 7 days. It is the kind of thing which a company would throw at you if you came to claim.

The interior exclusions were even worse IMO.

Mine is Artic Grey Metallic - Silver! Seems to be good so far. No paint swirls, no discolouration and doesn't show the dirt too badly.

Looks lovely with the wheels washed too!!!

My Beezer is too. As you say, there is not a swirl in sight. Looks great when it's clean and polished and rarely looks dirty unless you're close up, it just changes to a darker silver. :)
