I have been quoted a very special price on a KKK K04-01 turbo. I know there have been lots of discussions here about the different K04s but i am way lazy (and stupid) to check back, so here's my question:
Is the KKK K04-01 a straight bolt on to the stock IBIZA 20VT manifold???
think so, theres a couple of people on here more qualified than me to answer this one!! have you tried www.vwvortex.com and use the search function?lots of gys on there done it.
erm, well vwvortex is very VAG specific. I would like to know about a seat ibiza cupra 20vt ;). I would fancy to get the turbo but only if it fits to the manifold & downpipe (incl. all water & oil lines) without ANY modifications... So anybody?

i looked into this a while back and as long as its the k04-01 and not the k04 it should bolt on using existing pipework (from what i was told). A few people on here have already done it, getting the turbo from usa. Although to get the performance u should get it chipped, uprated intake pipe and possibly an uprated fuel pressure regulator.
How cheap is cheap???? and is there another one going cause i would seriously be interested!!!
Well, i already got a chip asking 1.1 bar till 4000 RPM this should be extended up until 5000 RPM at least me thinks. The turbo would be around US$700.

it should also increase torque and bhp shouldn't it??
My source is not up on the net, it's a local possibility (if you know what i mean ;).
Basically there was a guy who had a redundant little K03 for sale. I thought i'd get it for spare if my k03 blows some time, but he said he may be able to source a K04-01 even. I said why not?!
Probably i would not touch my chip and boost levels with the K04 (as re chipping would cost almost as the turbo), but it still would run a lot more efficient and colder than my hard driven K03 - and probably take much longer with some minor performance improvement, too.
Or i'll just get the K04 now, then wait for an FMIC, and complete a 240BHP stage later, don't know yet....

Any1 out there know the physical difference with this turbo???? Is it actually bigger than the k03 (have similar properties/specs to k04) or is it just a modified k03??? Also the k04 doesnt have a seperate intake pipe its one unit but the k03 does which does the k04-01 have??

not sure who he was but the yellow beezer at trax with the big fmic had a k0401 on it . maybe someone on here knows who he was??? he was on the se stand. looked well, had took the centre bar from his frontbumper to leave a space big enough for a large i/c.

just got a response from mjm turbo's about this unit, reply as follows:
Q: What is differences between k03 and k04-01 (is there physical differences etc?)??
A:There is a small physical differences between K03 Vs K04-01.
The turbine is the same housing diameter but the blade is a bit bigger.
In the compressor side, the housing is also a bit bigger but the scroll has different design.
The scroll means the contour of the housing cavity. It has more velocity and much bigger air ratio.
Overall, you will not notice physically but decieving because of internal design is different from K03.
Q:Will it bolt on?? (i.e. using existing pipe work like intake pipe etc..)???
A:If you are talking about K04-01 to be fitted to the Golf, Jetta, Bettle and Audi TT 180hp, then YES! its plug and play!
Q:What are expected gains???
A:Since the air ratio of K04 is much bigger volume than the K03, you have to upgrade the ECU.
Most Golf & Jetta owners are getting from 230 to 240hp using a GIAC chip or other chip.
By putting K04-01 alone, will give you a better torque but it is wise to buy the chip to enjoy the capability of K04-01.
Q:Is there a group buy discount available?? (i.e. how much for 5 units/10 units etc)???
Almost everyone in America buy their K04-01 & K04-15 to me since my price is very low.
Most tuner sell the K04-01 between $880 to $900.
I sell mine for $795. + shipping. I only make $88. per turbo.

I've talked with that guy (who could source me the turbo) yesterday, and he told me that he already got a K04-23 for sale, but no K04-01 yet. He already ordered it, lets hope they can arrange one for me. The K04-23 is a lot bigger turbo, which would require some custom job (even new manifold). If anyone wants a K04-23 just tell me.
kkk04-01 will fit STRAIGT without any custom job (seen that, done that). Just put turbo, 4bar FPR and remap your ecu and voila. It pulls much better to redline than original k03. its plug and play.
you just need to put your original k03 "stick" to aftermarket kkk04-01, seat uses different "stick" than golf 1.8T. stick = controls your wastegate.. dunno what is the english word for that.. :p
I see, but i bet the K04-01 will work the same good on a seat with its own "stick".

I think he means the bar thats connected to the wastegate, if you peer down the back of the engine, you will see it next to the turbo, dont go adjusting the nut on the end of it tho!

What is the EXACT partnumber for this KKK K04-01 turbocharger, or has some VAG-engined vehicle used the exactly same turbo earlier?

no vw was ever fitted with the k04 010, its an aftermarket turbo and cannot be bought through vw!best source is america i think. try www.vwvortex and do a search.think sim has one through the usa.

Only thing at the moment is the KKK exact modelnumber for that turbocharger so we can order it from local KKK turbo rep.
cant help you then as mines a k04 020 model:p but try vortex as every other person over there has one fitted!
