I have had a bad experience at Bryan Bros in bristol.
The Sales staff and service staff have been very helpful but i am left with an Seat Ibiza Cupra 'JOKE'.

Grab handle upside down
Indicator stalks mis-aligned.
Chassis for above rubbing (i think) on the steering wheel
Funny grinding sounds from engine, etc etc etc

The problems have been on going since i brought the car
(Wasnt even charged the right amount and had to go back and pay an extra £800)

Doors mis-aligned
Paint chips on bonnet that they "Touched up but fell out" (Still looks crap)

After my 20k service, Car get towed in - Thats where the real problems start :(

Maybe they are too busy or i just have a crap car?
I love the seat Ibiza cupra, Have driven Audi S3's and when i get back into mine i usually smile.
Maybe Audi would service it?

I totally agree about Bryan Brothers they are the worst car dealership I have ever been to for servicing, they all just seem totally braindead. Over the last few years I have had lots of problems with them but due to the fact that they have always offered me big discounts on new cars both Seat and Citroen I have persevered with them. The final straw came this year when I was looking to buy the Leon Cupra R and after 3 phone call to them and one visit to there showroom they couldn’t even be bothered to phone me back they just kept saying the guy you want to talk to isn’t here you will have to phone back tommorow, this is how they treat a customer who has bought 3 new cars in 3 years from them so a what chance has a new customer got! I can honestly say I will never go near Bryan brothers again and I would recommend if you want a stress free time don’t go near them. I have now bough my Cupra R from Richardson’s in Wellington who have offered a top-notch service so far.

OK, maybe I have experienced something different from Bryan Brothers.
I own a Piccaso and a Leon and have had them serviced at them on both occasions with no problems. I've also had my Leon's leak fixed (over the previous weekend), and hopefully they have sorted it ... except noticed a leak from the passengers side once i got home ... will keep you posted on that one thought.

I must say, my own experience with Bryan Bros. Bristol has not been particularly pleasant (search archives for details...) and my dear old 8v Ibiza Cupra Sport now goes to Holders of Congresbury. No more having to book services four weeks in advance, no more half completed services, reasonable prices and friendly helpful staff. Oh, and they know how to use ETKA too, which is a big help when trying to get parts ordered...

Just thought I would introduce myself. I work at Bryan Brothers and a lot of the things people are saying about the service dept is correct.
For example today I answered the phone 119 times between 7.30 and 18.00. As you can probably appreciate that do'snt give me much time to order parts, serve customers, quality control work done and do warranty paperwork. However, I have only been there a couple of months, so when we get some extra staff this fellow petrol head will hopefully improve the service.

I'd have to say, things have improved a little in recent months (they couldn't have got much worse). I certainly hope the service DOES improve if I continue to get through splitters as I have done over the last year or so...

I find the lack of Parts Desk distinctly unsettling... I also find it odd that I should have to call a completely different site to find out if parts have arrived at the site I ordered them from. Still, here's hoping things get better.

p.s. All you SW folks - fancy meeting a few more Seat owners from the area? Get down to the ClubGTi Bristol regional meet, first Wednesday of the month from 8pm at the Almondsbury Interchange Hotel, A38 approx 1/2 mile north of M5 J16...

To be honest I have to agree with you, and I am not going to defend any other dept. They use the crazy system of a central parts system ie fiat, citreon, seat, alfa romeo and some commercial stuff all in the same dept. I wish I was a bit higher up in the company so I could make some changes.

P.S if you are after Seat bits speak to me I can always get them added to one of my orders.

This is a good sign, a company unwilling to admit its faults will never get them fixed but a company that can see these issues at least can take steps to correct them.

I've not used Bryan Brothers for 18 months, despite them being my local dealer (again, search archives for details). I will never EVER use them again under any circumstances (are you listening SEAT UK?), unless something positive happens (is that possible) to convince me that it is a good idea.

I travel 80 odd miles to get my car serviced at Amethyst.

My neighbour has a new Citroen that he bought from BB - the last time I spoke to him he was not terribly satisfied (problems with a 3 month old car - when he eventually got a courtesy car whilst his was being sorted, the courtesy car let him down as well).

I almost bought a car from them last month...

The salesmen were fine (if a little unsure) although they appeared to have no idea of how the real value of the car. For the price they were asking I got a similar age car with 4000 less miles and leather and delivery from Bournmouth Seat...

The car did not look as though it had been looked after. Even on the forecourt it was filthy and a split in the rear spoiler had not been repaired...

The state of the car and the fact that they seemed happy for it to be seen this way really put me off the car...

This is the Email i sent to them and the reply i got (Notice the Spelling) My email is the one at the bottom as this is his reply.

Dear Mr Fennell
Appologies i was unable to meet you, haveing discussed your cncerns with our Technician Sean Tanner who met with you and carried out the appraisal i can only appologies for the fact that the grab handle was fitted incorrectly.
With regards to the indicator stalk,Sean has confirmed that the stalk has been fitted correctly and a rubbing noise when turning the steering wheel was not evident at the time of test.furthermore,it was also disappointing that he could produce the whirring, however,to his credit,he offersd to rescedule and would carry out a more in depth investigation that afternoon, for which an appointment was made.
We fully appreciate and understand your concerns and if you like to make Sean your first point of contact when making a new appontment he will do his very best to resolve the outstanding concerns.

Subject: Is my car a Joke?

Would you be happy?

Please find attached photos of how I now find my car
Correct me if I am wrong but

1. I believe the Grab handle (Discussed previously) has been put on upside down.
2. The indicator stalk has been put back wonky.
3. Something is rubbing when I turn the steering wheel, Possibly to do with the above.
4. I got a strange whirring sound from my engine after I turned it off (Only last a few seconds) (Not the water pump).

Is this a joke?

I will be at Bryan Bros 1st thing in the morning to discuss this (I believe 8.30 am is opening time)
I would prefer to speak to yourself if possible.
If you would prefer me to take my car to another SEAT dealer please suggest one.

Hi RichyF, I am working tomorrow 8-12, pop in and see me hopefully we can get your issues addressed.
1. grab handle (hopefully sorted now)
2. indicator stalk (as shaun was saying there is very little adjustment, because the stalks screw directly into the alloy boss. shaun says the best thing to do is remove the steering wheel to see if they can be bought back to a horizontial position, if not we can order a new boss under warranty.
3. we should be able to examine the metal to metal contact of horn ring and steering boss, when the steering wheel is off.
4. sorry I haven't heard this yet.

We do have a new cupra r in today, so that might keep you busy whilst your car is with us.
Or you might want to wait until monday when nik our seat-trained consultant tech is back.

Well, another big thumbs down to Bryan Brothers.

I lost my stereo code.

Amethyst in Cheltenham very helpfully said get the serial number for the Stereo and we'll do the rest.

Told us to pop down to Bryan Bros - it's a two minute job to get the head unit out and read the serial number off the back.

Ring Bryan Brothers and they tell us we have to book the car in for next week.

Why Oh WHY for a non-billable two minute job?

Why do Bryan Bros still hold a franchise?

Anyone?

SteveN

[Edited to make it clear that it wasn't Bryan Bros that lost my stereo code - it was me!]

I have Only just seen an end to this nightmare, The rental car i was given while my Seat was in the garage was charged to my account and The rental company were threatening to take ME to court as SEAT had not paid and i would not release the rest of the funds. (Thats for a car i was told comes in the warranty, And does)
I am choosing to live with the Crooked indicator stalk etc etc, Its not worth my time and all patience has worn out and Most of all im fedup of moaning :)
I think its an Audi TT next time or the 2003 STI subaru. As much as i have enjoyed my ibiza 20VT i dont fancy purchasing another SEAT.

Incidently a collegue in work has just purhcased a new Ibiza from BB and guess what, Radio Code was lost, hee hee hee hee. Though i believe he has the code now.

My radio was active when I picked it up.

Also waiting for a glovebox problem to be sorted - waiting on a phonecall from them, which I don't expect unless prompted...

Just seen the Bryan Brothers thread title while doing my daily surfing and thought I've heard that name recently like .. yesterday.

It seems Bryan Brother naughtiness has hit the headlines in the latest edition of Auto Express (issue 728). Seems they've upset some poor chap with a missing spare key for his Leon. He did get compensated but as ever im sure the customer like you guys would rather it didn't happen at all.

For reference my local dealer is Seat Amethyst Chelt. and have served me well - couldn't have asked for better. I suggest you Bristolians spend the extra milleage of tooing and froing and come to Cheltenham until Bryan Bros serve up some new found competence.

Nice to hear Amethyst are one of the good ones, since I'm picking up my TDi Sport from them on Sunday.

Hear hear! They also charged me about half what Amethyst wanted to charge me for a 50k service and cambelt change (bit early I know but I worry about these things...)

Thanks "Lashman".

Common sense has already prevailed after my wife rang up to complain and spoke to a supervisor who agreed that it was nonsense to have to book the car in.

Result: we now have the serial number for the radio and should soon have the code.

(Oh and by the way, MWM (ex Bristol SEAT dealer) offered to get the radio out for nowt even though it had NOTHING to do with them at all - shame they didn't have the required tools).

SteveN

Hopefully with a working stereo again soon!

MWM are good peeps too. I bought my two Ibizas from them before they lost the franchise. - Shame.

Hurrah.

Finally got a working stereo.

A big thanks to Amethyst (Cheltenham) who finally sorted this out for us.

SteveN

(Wishing I had taken notice of my earlier post in this thread saying that I would ALWAYS go to Amethyst in the future for anything - it saves a lot of hassle in the long run).
