View Full Version : Mud Flaps
Great forum guys, just registered.
I've just ordered a MY2003 Leon Cupra in Black Magic. I asked about getting mud flaps fitted but I was told that mud flaps won't fit on the MY2003 Cupra as it was based on the old Cupra4 and the body kit was too low. Is this true? If so I take it you just can't get mud flaps for these cars then.
cheers

Hi cmc and welcome.
Seems there's no SEAT flaps available for the MY2003 or R.
Was told the same thing by UM when trying to wangle them for free :)
Im sorry for what I am about to put.
I know you a new member and welcome along..this is the best place to be for Seat and VAG info and for a good laugh!

Glad someone else found it funny...was beginning to think I was the only sad person round here...thank ZBoyd!
..apologies for that, I just noticed what I'd done!!!! I could have been banned from the forum in my first post for using obscene language!!!
back to the point! It's a petty about the MUD flaps cause I think they look quite good on the car.

Welcome on board cmc.
We've tried adapting / modifying different flaps to fit but to no avail. Might be worth you look at a cold climate country such as Sweden for SEAT mudflaps - might even be someone on here that will help.
Sorry to add to the typing errors but if you want muf flaps for the outside you could also opt for beef curtains inside instead of tints!

Congrats on the car - Magic Black - There's another:D
Can I ask when yours was ordered, I've got this nasty feeling I might be waiting a bit longer for mine - I was expecting mine about then but with all the other delays....:(
Mine was ordered 3 months ago on Monday.
Has Terry got you a build week yet?
Cheers
I never said a word (again). I don't have to with the rest of you pointing out all the mistakes...
No more, it was just a passing phase! :o
Careful Bri, don't want to get reported for failing to stick to the Thread topic...

with regards to the build week. I was told it was this week actually. I called last week and they said they had not heard anything to the contrary yet.
I ordered the car at the end of August. However, it was one the vehicles they had ordered previously (don't know when) as they knew it would sell on nearer the time of delivery. (I think they said they pre-ordered about 10 and managed to sell them all).
Whatr problems have you have you been having/ heard about? Also, do you know whether 1-Stop register the car with Seat UK for warranty purposes?
Cheers

It was the unexpected 6 week closure of the factory. That has put other imports back considerably - especially dangel's. I think he's up to about 9 months for his now, apparently its been built, but no-one knows where it is:confused: He was importing through United Motors.
I emailed them about 3 weeks ago to see if there was any further news, but they said no, they'd let me know when they had something to tell, but in reality, if yours was ordered in Aug and mine before, I would hope to be in the same batch:)
With regards to the registration of the warranty, I don't believe that they do, Rob, also from Bedford,(rhumber), bought one of their MY02 cupra's and registered it himself. Just Fax your V5 and copy of inside cover of service book (showing dealer stamp) to SEAT UK (fax no (01908) 548039. Mark it for attention of the WARRANTY DEPT. (snipped from another post) They should then just send you a letter of conformation I think.
One last question - did you order a sunroof, beacuse it seems the unsunroofed (you know what I mean) were being built before the others.
How they work that one out is anyones guess
:) :) :)

It's about six and a half months since my order went in now, delayed because of the MY2002-2003 change and the factory closure. I'm still waiting to here from Peiter at UM as where the car is but it's a matter of SEAT getting off their spanish arses and putting the car on the back of a lorry for Holland.
My advice for importing is to order around this time of year, since you'll avoid any model changes and/or factory closures (which tend to be summer in Spain). That said there is a general shortage of MY2003 and Cupra R cars atm, probably as SEAT struggle to catch up with lost production time.
Mine's doesn't have a Sunroof. I got my order confirmation from 1-Stop at the beginning of September and they said delivery was mid October and build week 2nd week in September. I called them to try and clarify some dates for organising insurance etc last week and they said there was a whole batch being built this week and they expected mine to be in there. They said didn't think there was a change to the original plan, but they did say that SEAT are very bad for not telling people these things!! (which is a bit worrying)
That's good to know about the warranty, the last thing you need is a warranty claim after 6 months then you find out your car is not registered in the UK!
This sounds a bit petty, but do you know if the cars 1-Stop supply come with a Cupra badge?
cheers

I have not had a proper order comfirmation from them as yet, so maybe I am out of luck:(
As for the cupra badge, I don't think (correct me if I am wrong) anyone has recieved a MY03 from them yet.
They do post on here so maybe if you are out there.....
when I say order confirmation it was really just the order details along with their terms and conditions that I had to sign and pay the deposit along with. But it gave things like expected delivery date, all the options taken on the car etc.
I didn't get the impression they'd seen a MY2003 as they when they were telling me all about the new body kit they said that they were looking forward to seeing one!

cmc,
My car is also due to go into production this week and is identical in spec and colour to Jubjubbird's  (hands off it's MINE! lol). I've been led to believe the factory issue the VIN numbers once the cars are in production, so fingers crossed, ours are trundling down the line as we speak.
Cupra badge - seems the badge may have been dropped from the MY03 model, but if you really want one your local UK dealer can supply them for a few quid. There's a thread somewhere in the Leon forum. I prefer the stealth mode, and at risk of repeating myself for the umteenth time, "those that know will, those that don't can choke on my exhaust fumes" :D

I did all that way back in June - But they did say I would recieve a proper order conformation form the dealer at some point - which I have not done so as yet. Back then, the expected delivery date was 12-14 weeks from the time. Well that's nearly up:(

Fair play - You did order your before me didn't you?
If not - they'll have to be a :saber: for it:)
Or we could share :laff1:
In anticipation........
I've not received one of those either but because it was pre-ordered by 1-stop back in the summer they will probaly get it. They currently have a batch on order that is due for delivery in December. So hopefully the SEAT production line in back up and running. See link below for their

I feel like I've skipped the queue a bit guys and I hope everyone gets their cars over the next couple of weeks.
I think i'll go for the Cupra badge as I think it will stick out well against the black tailgate.
