View Full Version : Atmosheric Blow Off valve for 2.0T FSi
Hi Forge, can you explain the function of this device please?
http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/content.asp?inc=product&cat=1703DV&product=FMDVFSiT
As far as I know the DV works alot differently in the FSI engines as opposed to the 1.8T
Cheers

The Forge spcer bov is purely for the sound , the FSIT engine has an electronically operated solenoid type bov , it is completely different technology from the old 1.8T and the Bosch plastic DV.
The Forge spacer sits between the solenoid and the spacer and will give the blow off valve sound if this is what you require .
Any implications or performance or reliability of the engine parts?
Also how easy it is to fit to the Seat 2.0T

easy to fit , we have one on the Golf FSIT with 20,000 miles with the spacer no issues no codes nothing , it a great mod if you want the bov sound

we have the spacer

and the adjustable spacer

One more question.. if it blows off air, is it not recirculating less air into the turbo, meaning less boost?

not in our experience, everything performs as normal !

Excellent, thanks for your prompt responses!

when you need boost the valve is closed, it only opens at throttle off to vent the built up boost as required. In the case of the 2.0fsiT engine this is all controlled via the ecu and an electronic solenoid valve so its all very accurate.
I fitted one of these to an Octavia II last week.
As you would expect from Forge, the quality is great. Fitting is a breeze, had to remove the undertray to get to it and then it's just three allen bolts to remove the electronic valve and then add in the Forge spacer valve with the 3 supplied longer bolts and you're sorted.
The one I fitted was the adjustable type - You have to be a bit like Mr Tickle to reach the adjuster when the car is in it's normal state but we found if you put the wheels on full lock you can just about reach it through the wheel arch.
Thanks stu.
Forge, how does the three different noise levels of the adjustable valve compared with the non adjustable. IE; is the 'loud' or 'medium' setting the same as the no adjustable noise level?
Cheers.
As I understand it you have three modes -
Mode one - Full Recirc (ie OEM)
Mode Two - Partial Recirc Partial Vent to Atmosphere
Mode Three - Full Vent to Atmosphere
It's the VTA that makes the noise and there is a noticable differance between mode two and mode three.

mode 3 as above = the non adjustable version.
mode 2 is 50/50 between atmo and divert so effectively this dampens the noise a bit as 50% of the released air is going back in to the intake and hence being muffled.

Does that go down as “sexual harassment” from my boss?
If so that could earn me a lot more cash than eBay does :bleh:
stop flirting you two and just come out :cartman:

I am completely happy with my sexuality , the wearing of a thong is just a happy release from the hard days work at Forge , sometimes on a hot day there my be a little chaffing but its a small price to pay .
I do not need to come out , especially if you do not tell me where you would like me to come out too. what way is that to ask some one out ? or are you just being coy , or is there a secret underground memebership of cupra net thong wearers that we dont yet no about . perhaps its could have its own cupra net forum section . I think we should send our suggestions to Mork

no, but we do have a secret cult that requires an initiation of muscle vest wearing, thongs are optional.

Rich is that your future dress wear as in muscle vests and thongs ?
sorry to interrupt to the love fest going on here:D , can i ask a question about the 2.0T blow off valves?
what sort of noise do they make? is it just like the sound of air coming out of the system (tshhhhh) or more of a rally style wastegate noise (psssst). i guess the former, but wanted to check. i had a carbonio + forge 007DV on my leon cupra, but i now got a golf v gti.
cheers!
russell.
I prefer the sound from a air intake. i personally have the neuspeed P-flo, which i think gives a great noise, the sucking in, then the pssst' I think the forger spacers gives more of a tsssh, there are videos around the web with the noises though!
aah yeah, just seen it on you tube.
also because it's electronically operated i think the noise comes in too early, and lasts too long.
for others wanting to hear sounds of this spacer, go to youtube .com and type in golf forge spacer or something similar.
it's not the noise i was after but that's completely my personal opinion.
so would any induction kit make the same 'psst' noise? the neuspeed one is too expensive for me but i was looking at the BMC CDA.
I dont think the BMC are filter will give you much of an increase in noise, maybe only slightly.
Part of the reason the neuspeed/evoms induction kits are loud is becuase is replces the current filter assmembly and replaces it with a laege metal tube which has the affect of ampliflying the noise of the induction and air flow. It is quite a strange noise but i love it :)
aah, maybe it will sound like my old carbonio (leon 20VT).
i think the BMC is a filter as well, it's got the filter in the cylindrical box. therefore no need to have the panel filter in the car. (?)
will check before buying, otherwise will just stick with the milltek non-res catback exhaust.
