Cleaning Interior/Steam Cleaning - Help

I've just bought a car that a previous owner has smoked in. I'd like to give the interior a really good clean to try and get rid of the stale smell.

I can borrow a steam cleaner, and can buy some shampoo etc.

Anyone got any tips for the best way to approach it all?

i.e. Shampoo then Steam or Steam then Shampoo etc

I would actually steam first, very lightly!

Then use the shampoo, spray on, brush, and tab dry. Try to dio it this weekend, leaving the windows open to allow the car to fully dry.

Once dry give the carpets a good spray with something like frabreeze and leave to dry naturally.
