I have nearly decided to get myself a Ibiza Cupra 20VT but want to know a few things and get some information from some other cupra owners. The radio in my opinion looks a bit poo... and i know and have been told that it can;t be changed... right
so what do other people think of the radio that comes in the car and what have people bought in the way of speakers, subs... etc cos I want to get a good sound so I can listen to my trance and dance with a bit of crisp bass... what would people recommend.
Cheers

Get a decent pair of 6x9's or 20cm's for the rear shelf. Replace the front standard ones with a set of 17cm components and have a Sony 4x55w amp fitted. And have it hidden in the trim under the ashtray/mobile cubby hole thingy. (Involves removing the gearstick trim to get to it, nobody would know it's there).
That seems to be the recommended idea around here.
I've got the amp and have replaced the standard rears with JBL's but will be getting some 20cm's/6x9's when I have the cash.
Cheers
Andy
Can you tell me what Sony amp model you have, as I can’t seem to find a suitable one? Also how does it connect to the stereo, usually they connect through the RCA outputs on head units, but seeing as there aren’t any on the Ibiza unit I’m confused as to how it is wired up!
Cheers for your help

Umm.....rustle, rustle. Yep, the model is XM-423SL. As for fitting, Flapper is in the chatroom.....FLAPPER????

YO , u shouted :)
XM-423SL , sony 4*55w , soon to be available as a 4*80w
fits "JUST" into the centre console , as for wiring , it comes with a pre wired loom , which fits straight into the head unit , and unit wiring then plugs straight into the loom . other end , again one plug straight into the AMP , only wiring needed is an earth near the amp . :D
wiring connectors are standard DIN so will fit ANY newish unit .
as for the amp both front/rear are adjustable for frequency and gain , so you can play with it as you get better speakers , andy's above is set roughly 40frnt 60rear and it sounds cool
as for speakers see above for best option , rumours of a stealth shelf around soon too .
too be honest STD head unit will run 6*9's in the rear ok , if you want more add the amp later :p
mail me and i can send you some pics if ya like
