After over 7 years of Impreza Turbo fun and frolics, on Friday I change to a Leon Cupra. I hope I'm making the right decision...

Better in some ways. Worse in others.

For a point to point machine, the Impreza leaves it for dead.

There again it hasn't the refinement of a Leon.

Like all cars really. Horses for courses.

Just enjoy what you have while you have it !! After all, both are great cars.

I agree with EL02 I changed my Impreza last year for an A3 1.8T (crap choice) sport last year, had that under 12 months & have just replaced it with a Leon Cupra on Saturday 13th. So far so good at least its fast with decent handling while being comfortable, I've 2 kids under 4 who are a lot happier now & so is dad cause he can have performance & family, the kids were never happy in the impreza .

Only problem I've done under 200 miles & had to park it up for 3 weeks as I've had to go Overseas for a job, cann't wait to try it out properly when I get home.

I parted company with my 5dr Impreza Turbo recently after enjoying it for 2 years and am now driving a Leon 110 TDi.

You may ask why ? Indeed......

Well the costs of the insurance, fuel and servicing were getting too much for my meager salary. I do miss the cars performance, handling and road presence - however I'don't misss having to fill up every 190 miles !

The one thing I have noticed is that driving the Leon people do tend to provide you with less time, space and essentially sit on your bumper and do not move over. In the Impreza you got extreme respect from other drivers (apart from Vectra SRi drivers !) and loads of fun.

Never took the car on the track but the only car that actually out-performed it in the 2 yrs I had it was an Evo 6 - and that was a close run thing...... if you ever get the opportunity to own or drive one go for it you will be amazed...

I have been toying with chipping the TDi to 150 bhp but am not sure how the relatively sort handling would cope with it round the twisty bits ..... how easy is it to firm up the suspension on these things /

I get sick of the fill-ups too, Tim. That's interesting about the time factor, as people do all those things to me in my Turbo anyway! The only time I seem to get any respect is when an elderly friend wants me to take him out in his Rolls Royce!

Several places seem to be offering suspension upgrades (and at a lot less cash than Scooby upgrades). Check this site for details, or these links:
