OK, I drove the Leon over the weekend and loved it, it's a cracking little car. The only problem I currently have is insuring the bugger (£1500 is the lowest I've got it). Anyway, I found this place:

http://www.micronetshowroom.co.uk

They're offering brand new, UK spec Leon Cupras for £12,497, all in (you have to collect from the continent for that, but that's not a huge problem). Anyone used them?

Also, are there any major problems importing a Leon rather than buying a domestic model? I appreciate I'll only get the 1 year manufacturer's warranty, but anything else I should know about?

Also just found www.carpartnership.com who have Black Magic Leon Cupras on order, due in the week after next for £13,299 plus road fund licence. This could be the kiddy for me since I'm in dire need of a car and the 12-24 weeks everywhere else is quoting is a hell of a wait.

Again, anyone got any experience of these people?

If you are prepared to travel to the continent to bring your car back, then get it taxed and registered back here yourself, there is no point in paying a '3rd party' for the privilege of locating a car for you.

Your best and cheapest bet is to source the car yourself from a Seat dealer on the continent, some are even prepared to drive the car to the docks for you, so all you have to do is bob it on the ferry and back home from there.

The advantage of using an Import company is that they do all the crap for you, getting it back over here, registering it etc, but if like you say, you are prepared to do all that yourself then cut out the middle man and save even more money! :D

A lot of guys on here have bought their Seat's from www.pruys.nl a main Seat dealer in Holland, the guy you need to contact for prices etc is Wim (E-mail Wim@pruys.nl)

By the way, for near enough 13.5k I am getting a brand spanker Leon 20VT Leather/winter pack/leccy sunroof and rain sensing wipers.

Good luck and enjoy your new Seat. ;)

Bells Seat (http://www.freecars.com) (up near Manchester somewhere) has Cupras for £12,999 - in stock. They describe them as imports but I think they may actually be pre-registered UK cars. I don't know but, at that price, they have to be worth checking out.

I don't know what your insurance situation is, but everyone on here seems to recommend Tesco and DirectLine. If you've tried them, then it's going to be the blind epilectic 17 year olds with 9 points, 2 smashes and an unroadworthy Ferrari specialists for you...

Got a quote for £1348 in the end, which for a group 16 car with 3 claims (including a write-off, a break in and an uninsured git hitting me), ain't bad going.

So, Leon Cupra it is for me, probably from www.carpartnership.com for £13,299 w/metallic paint. /me is very excited now. :)

My bad. I'm sure you can find them if you can be bothered, but I might dig the link out for once your people have sold out. Once I'm off this shitty connection anyway.
