View Full Version : 1.8 20vt Boost Gauge
To all cupra people.
We have now got our boost gauge sorted and fitted and all works OK.
Available in white or black background and can be a supply only option or we can fit for you.
Neil showed me on Saturday (Unfitted) and he was meant to give me the price but we forgot.... so, how much does it cost fitted?
Thanks
Ben
How easy are they to fit Graham?? What do they look like any chance of a piccy. :)
As Bill was saying i think i really could do with a gauge, so i can identify whats happening when my car hesitates.
Im no mechanic but my mate own his own garage im sure he's clued up enough to fit one.

4.Take clear pipe under bonnet (worst bit)
5.Connect pipe to correct place to measure boost ( most technical bit)
6.Road test and enjoy (remember to watch road as well)
7.Road test at night for illuminated effect.

I spoke to Swinny yesterday. He's waiting on Flapper to provide the photos I think and he's off on holiday. Even hard working Parts Managers get time off! :)
It'll be sorted when he gets back I think.
Cheers
Andy
Can you send these photos to me also?
My email grad0075@di.uoa.gr
Thanks a lot:)
just popped in to say HELLLLOOOOOOOO
blimey , i'll get em up as soon as possible , tbh i'll probably post em on ere so you can d/load at will then
ill be back middle next week
I am gonna wait and see what Flapper/swinny's gauge looks like/cost's before i buy one, cos i can always refit my standard chip afterwards to see what the boost differences are,
Does anyone know how difficult these gauges are to fit, i.e. are there any easily accessible engine bulkhead grommets to pass the piping through, and where abouts should the boost be tapped from the manifold, the brake servo line looks ideal but i think it might upset the brake servo doing this? what does anyone think?

There is a small non-return valve off the brake vacuum line, and off this is a small blanked pipe. This is a good place to take off boost pressure from inside the manifold downstream of the throttle.
I have'nt seen Swinnys mounting myself yet, but I do have my Ibiza one posted on my website for info. at...

Is that the TIM pod Bill?, cos it looks good!, thats the place i was thinking of mounting my one in my leon when i get the gauge,
Does it read negative pressure off boost if you connect it to that line?
Ignore the negative boost question!!, just seen that it does with your engine running in the pictures:D

Yep its a TIM POD but not a TIM guage.
Got mine from Avonbar - no make on it except made in England
Reads vacuum - yes as you have seen on the piccies. (wrong units technically on mine as vacuum is in mmHg really - but hey- that would be picky!):)
Bill
Is your car chipped Bill?,
If so how many horseys have you got!,
And what boost pressure are you running under full acceleration?

Yes mine is Oettinger chipped by RSD via Amethyst from new.
The max boost seen is 17psi (peak) and winds back as the revs climb to about 12psi steady. Low rpm full boost is higher than the higher rpm. eg 3rd gear low(ish) speed plant the throttle and the boost winds to about 17psi (great surge of torque:)) and then reduces boost as the revs climb.
I will be interested to hear what boost you get as a sustained value and also the peak.
It'll make you smile though I'm sure.

I quite fancy one.. only standard Cupra, but it will settle my mind when I can see that my turbo and dv are running ok and there are no problems..
I can also then notice if there is a problem and take it in to the dealership and show them clearly.
Would like to see what they look like and how much they cost though first.
If the pics are being mailed then please send me them, if they are being posted up on here.. then no worries.. just need to know how much to buy and how much to fit.. :)
Cheers..
