BHP Addict
24-06-2006, 01:30
not as expensive as you'd expect.
Took 2.5 days tho to get it all right as this was first mod on LCR.
Took hours to get bumper off
intercooler £50
Pipe Kit £110

I was just wondering how it compares to the SMIC and then to th Forge FMIC. As that is one hell of a saving.
Plus it looks sexy!

from what i cam remember when i put mine on and drove it for the first time i noticed it tl=o be a little laggier but not much, and one chipped im sure will be awsome, it does pull all the way round to the red line now as i cant remember it doing this before,
i agree with rick... when i first drove my LCR after fitting the forge FMIC i think i felt it was slightly, just slightly more laggy... but then i went and did a high speed run and it makes a good difference! (this was before i was remapped)
BHP Addict... most SEAT stealers have a heart attack when they see my car... they wont know wat has hit them when they see that FMIC!
That looks very sweet.
I take it it is one of the ic of ebay with 3inch in and out?
i wouldnt cut the n/p holder off if i was you.....where would you put the plate? just get a cut down one like mine...its 14"x std depth
(pic here : http://s63.photobucket.com/albums/h130/meeerrrk/?action=view¤t=RIMG0012.jpg) its a perfect fit for the holder.
please dont put chrome mesh in there, make it black, or better still, try and use the stock mesh becasue its the finishing touches either make it or break it !
BHP Addict
24-06-2006, 12:32
yeah 3" in and out 2.5" pipework through out.
I was expecting to be a little laggier after what some people have said. But one remapped Im hoping it will be ace.
I do want to sort something out to protect it, but it looks the dogs all open tho (typical looks vs lifespan  )
I want to say a huge thanks to Rick, helped out when i was stuck and will probably help agen before its finished and yes Rick i learnt well
Will sort out some logs when running n post em up.
Glad you all like her

Dd use standard honeycomb grille if twas me. Subtlety is the key [B)]
i wouldnt cut the n/p holder off if i was you.....where would you put the plate?
You could always get a graphics place to make a plate up on vinyl and stick it on the bumpers edge, similar place to Alfa's. It helps if you have a private plate with a few less digits so it doesnt run too far round the bumper.

Now that my friend is sexual. With a honeycomb grille in front of FMIC i reckon it would be unbeatable
BHP Addict
25-06-2006, 11:46
I do like the honeycomb grill i must admit.
Dozer that looks well nice mate, not to sure on the plate bein on one side tho, i like things to be even, I am a little fussy.
I'll sort it out this week, I have to strip it down agen to get pipework welded anyway so no big deal.

Can I have opinions or recommendations please???
(Yes I know that the Intercooler isnt made by anyone special, but just like the look of the logo's)

Did you have problems securing the FMIC so it's safe on the road?
BHP Addict
25-10-2006, 21:07
Been a while guys, No didnt have problems securing FMIC to car just making sure pipework went as good as perfect.
Still need toget high gloss samco couplers for it tho to finish it off.
Some up to date pics below but on crap camera so may have to post better ones at later date.

Looking good fella. Whats the high gloss samco couplers?
BHP Addict
25-10-2006, 23:04
you know the rubber/silicone parts that connect the polished pipework together and to the inlet mani and charge pipe? The ones I fitted the intercooler with have dulled a little under the heat. I want to try and get a long straight piece of samco like hose 76mm( if I remember) then cut it to join the pipes together so it will be a nice finished job.
Do you follow lol?

I have a forge one but think the open front looks uber sexy so was hoping to do similar.
Spot on job there fella
BHP Addict
26-10-2006, 21:49
Yeah the crash bar had to be modified so that you dont see it once the rill is out, my whole intention was for it to look similar to dozers earlier in thread without the number plate section, but I have decided to leave it on because it looks tidy with small number plate, like a red border.
Grill still goes in but I like it open, Looks more aggressive you think? No problems with stones either.
Jazzy, nice work mate. Where you gt your kit from?
