View Full Version : UpSolute
Now that UpSolute have an official agent in the UK, is anyone planning to fit one of their chips to their Leon Cupra. I've been in touch with them, they're asking £295.00 all in for a chip that will give 212BHP and a healthy increase in torque. Apparently UpSolute have been going for years and sell all over the world, but £295.00 sounds almost too good to be true, is it a case of "what sounds too good to be true usually is"
I'm very tempted, especially as they're based less than an hour away but I don't want to waste my money.

Theres been alot of talk on this chip over the past week or so, check out the other threads:D
Must admit, though someone said they quoted £250!!

If you want any info, contact me directly. These guys are 10 mins drive from me and have offered 10% discount to us.
Don't know anything about Upsolute but, unless you're planning on doing lots of high altitude work (like nothing in the UK) or running your car on chip fat instead of good quality unleaded, there's no reason that I can gather not to. I don't want to do an advert but Wetterauer (http://www.wetterauer.de) has a very good reputation in Germany, where the mainstream mags regularly test chipped cars. Their chip for the Leon offers 209 hp and 290 Nm, with a top speed of 146 mph - although it is optimised for 98 RoN petrol. It's not cheap though - about 1200 euros including a year's replacement warranty.

CAREFUL ! Super unleaded is 97 RON, except Optimax which is 98.6 apparantly.
Anyone running increased boost would be well advised to use Super Unleaded IMHO. GIves you an added safety margin against det.

Andy,
I've been tracking Upsolute for about the last year ~ my specific interest is their TD tuning ability ~ which is regularly (highly)praised on www.forums.tdiclub.com. Both their products and their service are highly rated.
They are big in Europe and USA ~ lack of a UK distributor ('til now!) leads everyone to think they are new....they are not!
They have adopted a standard pricing system ~ which is $300 plus fitting. It was I who quoted "approx £250" ~ looks like the UK dealer is taking a reasonable cut too......there are so many folks in the UK who want to pay more, convinced that they are buying a better product that I guess he'd be silly not to!
ALthough all remaps are invisible to VAG1551 diagnostic equip, they supply full warranty (for new and "newish" cars). All conversions are TUV approved, and yet folks still feel happier paying 10 times this amount for similar power from other sources.......I can't understand it personally, but if you want to do that go ahead.
(I find this particularly confusing since folks here drive SEATs.....which must be crap compared to VWs and Audis right? 'cos they are cheaper......so they must be crap.......)
Have a look on the Upsolute forum too http://www.upsolute.com/cgi-bin/board/upsolute/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=1
They are happy to publicly discuss problems that their customers experience. This is a plus in my book......
- They are cheap.
- TUV approved.
- Remaps provide excellent results.
- Mods are "warranty-stealthy"
- Fall-back is Upsolute warranty (and their cust support is recognised)
- They provide copy of your standard map (if you want to return car to std) FOC.
Alex (Upsolute board moderator) runs a remapped TT225 by the way.....

I would check the warranty on Upsolute. The Chip will be warrantied, and the conversion may me warrantied so long as the car is serviced according to the manufacturers specifications.
