I'm going to write up a bit of history about Seat and how it all started etc. I know a fair bit, but want to piece in the missing bits. Anyone come across anything like this on the net.

There is a Spanish/English book on the Mk 1 Toledo which covers Seat history in depth. I havent got it, but saw it once. If anyone has it and would be willing to lend/sale it then I'd be appreciative.

Many thanks

Andy

Spain ;)

i know i know i'll get my coat

Would be an excellent idea and useful, i enjoy a bit of history. And its would be good to see where the company has come from.

I'll ask Lee to have a word with SEAT, lets see if they can help us shed some light on their history.

think the first car they did here in the Uk was the ibiza, but it could have been that fiat panda rip off the Marbella (spelling).

Could be wrong though, has been known.

I'd be interested in the history too.

SEAT started in 1951, joint venture between Spanish gov't and FIAT

I certainly remember the Fiat 126 based car, I think it was called a 133 and the Seat 1200 coupe being available here in the 70's. Then I think they dissapeared and came back with the Rhonda (a place just above Marbella - I always thought why did they call it after a welsh valley!) and Malaga and then the first Ibiza. Marbella and Inca followed and the rets is history ;)

The problem with trying to search the net for ‘Seat’ related topics is you end up with upholstery sites :(

I just found this link to a 1967 SEAT 850 Coupe:

Here's another link that might be useful:

http://www.autointell.com/european_companies/volkswagen/seat/seat-50-years.htm

It reads like a Seat press release so you may already have it. I like the strip of images showing the evolution of the SEAT logo.

Most of the documents on SEAT seem to skip from the 50's to the 80's. What happened to them in-between?

Trying to narrow an internet search for SEAT is a real pain! I've found sites on seat-belts, car seats, seat covers, even ejector seats for ****'s sake!:head:
