Size comparison.
existing 1.8T throttle body vs R32 throttle body (which is to go on badger wagen sometime on new plenum intake manifold)

pardon my ignorance bill, would it make any difference to those of us running standard turbos with maybe stage 2 software (well either 1 or 2) etc, does the standard inlet restrict us equally as badly?
not a whole lot of point if the rest of the system is 2" Brend - whereas most of bills' is 3"

out of interest, what parts are 3", im just trying to see what would be beneficial for future bodging.
I saw you mention you were going to do this on the vortex I think, or on here.
Out of interest, is the R32 the same size as the S3/TT/LCR one?
Edit, scratch that - if it were the inlet manifolds on ibizas and LCRs wouldn't be interchangable

You answeed your own question.
R32 one seems pretty enourmous to me.
APR's BP mani and claims power gains... which are combination of mani & RS4 t'body

The t'body will be going onto my new intake mani... so I wont know if any gains, if there are some, are from it or combination of it and plenum.

So 36whp on one car tested, impressive, guess that's USwhp, be interesting to know what that is in UKwhp ;).

lol
what I have is big enough to be a pain
I wonder what low revs throttle response will be like  (not that you care much about that - although I suppose it does matter in corners).
Jabba/Pro-Alloy not doing it for you then?
Edit: I'd be interesting to see what effect it would have on the boost pressure differential between the "outside" of the TB and inside the manifold...

Wow didnt know apr did mani's like that, thought it was only Dahlback etc. Was toying with the idea of one in the near future before BT. Are those APR units expensive as i think!?

From what I understand reading Vortex the tests by APr were done on a car with small port head?
So that 36whp is impressive....

its not JS or Pro-Alloy doing it no.
Mani is made by http://www.monster-turbo.com/
Throttle on R32 is'nt reported as being anything other than ok on low revs so I will presume it will be fine. dbw can sort it out. :)

Its as expensive as you can expect from APR Motorsports.
$1200 or more I think. (excluding throttle body)
I think prices were in their thread on vortex posted earlier.

Bill
Your going for the new APR mani with R32 TB right? this is single plenum?
As opposed to your current set-up of OE TB and from what I recall the Jabba one is Dual Plenum?
Assuming I got that right ( and believe me there is plenty of scope for error  :D ) are you 'just' looking to flow more air or is their another technical reason that I'm missing for you moving away from the current Mani

no m8 deffo NOT going APR one. way too expensive.
I am going R32 throttle body however on www.monster-turbo.com one (their 007)
JS one made by Pro-Alloy is designed from my Dahlback and some idea's Elton & I threw about (internal air horns, dual plenum a la Lehman designs which Dahlback use). With me wanting to go bigger TB, dual plenum existing slot is not suited, and I do want to try simple large plenum design, which also has internal stacks.
Looking for "more" airflow/less losses with the expected airflow the motor is likely to see in final spec (if there ever is a 'final' spec LOL)
equal length tubular mani, its bigger turbo, its custom grind cams, its R32 t'body and big plenum mani... should all make for a step change in power. Sounds good.... we will have to see if the proof is in the pudding or not.
lots & lots of work however to get there.

Ah yes heard of the 007 and the USRT talked about recently, lots of new parts coming in then and big changes, I hope they all work, fingers crossed for you ;) .
Wondered if I was missing some technical reason for the change in Mani but appears you are just exploring new ideas......
Is the turbo a secret at the moment???......  T04 maybe? or T3/T4 hybrid???
Is your 450whp in your vortex sig in USbhp or UK bhp ;) :D

450whp... is a target. will have to see how close I get to it.
My current inlet mani has a slot runner from 1st plenum to 2nd sized for OE throttle body. I have toyed with the idea of getting it converted to single plenum to "see" the change in power etc, and or to revise the slot size to suit the larger t'body. but its design is what it is and a larger t'body wont just go on without an adaptor (which will reduce its size), so want to change and try something else.
Dont know if you dont try these things.
