I got an 8v induction kit from Scott down in Sommerset for my Cordoba 1.6 SX.....Luvly :D

Arrived ...Brilliant :D

Got the kids to school...and followed instructions to install.
Now this is when I find that I have a hose missing and a sensor from the bottom of the air filter housing..???

Stuff this I thought , I want an induction kit on. So I block the now spare hole in the side of the kit and plug the only sensor (on the management system) in and install as per instructions...;)

Well...take it down the road and WOW ! whata noise ! Get down the dual carrigeway and She flys....

Now...Have I done the right thing by putting something that is not for my enginge on ? And what Bloody engine have I got then ?I thought all 1.6 SX cordys were 8v...I know I have this 'variable air flow manifold' thingy....but will his induction unit work on this type of engine ?

I know you boys have all the answers...what do you rekon ??

And once again SCOTT...thankyou.

Look forward to you replies...Sparky.

I might be wrong but I thought the 1.6 SX was a 16v. Having said that I don't see that you will do any harm by using that 8v kit. Just make sure that the thing you've blocked the hole with can't work loose and get inside the intake.

Like I said I could be wrong but I'd just enjoy...

i would have thought that the engine would run lean if airflow is increased without fueling adjusted. this is one for flapper or others who know each model better.

if car is injection , the air flow/air mass meter sensor will measure the incoming air and density and should adjust fuelling to suit

i know it has meter if it is injection but my point is that it would normally be fitted to induction kit if it has holes etc. for this. so if these are missed out is it def getting metered correctly. that is simply my concern

1.6 sx coupe is magneti marelli multipoint 8valve engine, any hoses and sensors from the airbox should have a home if the ind kit is a true 8v 1.6 one....so the haynes manual says anyway!!:)

Thanks everyone.....Will have pictures soon to help maybe...

The only sensor I have is on the air management system. The kit was looking for another at the bottom.

I hope the picutres will tell the story....Maint concern though was ,could it cause damage ? The only sensor is connected..

What does more air flow do ?? More the better ??

the second gap may be for the engine breather pipe, i know for sure that my 16v has one , not so sure about the 8v..
sparky, the more air the merrier, as long as its cold air thats being fed into the filter as it is more dense, and that means because its more dense more can be squeezed into the chambers which in turn makes the whole burn process more efficient and slightly more explosive:fart: which gives a little more power, for an easy example, have you notied that your car is more eager first thing in the morning, first and second gear is a lot more fun, then as under the bonnet gets hotter your power drops a little. getting a cold air feed from somewhere low down on the car helps a little to keep the air circulating when moving along at whatever speed too....
