Ive been testing what sort of MPGs i can get from my car and am pretty suprised by the results. I drive mainly on A roads so was expecting really poor figures but instead i found that if i was really pushing the car i cant get it BELOW 26 mpgs and when driving sensibly ( but boringly!) its touching on 40! now am i not understanding these right or is that pretty good? The cars a 97 2.0 8v and its been AMD chipped, got induction kit and a full supersprint 'zorst with de-cat pipe. Anyway just thought i would see what other people were getting

I used to get 40mpg out of my 8v on motorways no problem. And that was sitting at 85-90... Aledgedly Officer.......

My 16v drinks fuel though. Lucky if I get 30...

I get the same prob, used to be able to get 39-40mpg out of my old 8v toledo (even with cam and chip) now I get as low as 15mpg when giving it some and 29 on the motorway at a steady 80 (alledgedly) ....but the power, oooooh its worth it.

My 16v does 37mpg sitting at 80mph. Which aint too bad. Give it some and you can get it as low as 20 though :(

Before I took the F2 spoiler off - 25mpg was the best i could get at motorway speeds. I manange to save a tenner over the return trip back and to Scotland and Liverpool :D

1.8 16v must be less thirsty. Bugger, and you can turbo 'em.....

What sort of improvement have you got with these mods? I have a 97 8v too with a Remus exhaust, I keep thinking about chipping it but have never got round to it. It is definitely worth it?

ive also got a 97 8v ibiza, i average about 31mpg. Best ive ever had was 37mpg. Lowest ive had was 26mpg. Ive got superchip, piperx ind, milltek cat back zorst, and the fecking f2 spoiler that drags things down LOADS, having 17's dunt help either. Im thinking of getting rid of the ibiza anyway :(

Yeah, personally i think its worth chipping the car. Its made mine run so much better. Tied all the other mods together too. If anything i would say my economy has got better since having it chipped. Plus she doesnt redline till 6200 now which makes it sound seriously evil with the 'zorst and induction roar! :D This may sound stupid but i think fitting the f2 front helped a bit too! maybe im getting more air into it now or something?

my 98 8v generally returns about 35 mpg combined gunning/traffic/cruising on way in/out of work, but it has f2 roof spoiler and jr induction and 17s. tho i am planning on cam/chip and getting shot of f2 as soon as i get std replacement.

Just thought though... All you lot with 17's... Not only is your speedo now out ( even more... ) but the mpg figure will be out as well. My brain isn't working this early in the morning so I can't think which way it's altered.

Mine would give upto 49 mpg.....hang on hang on!....yes alright it was done on a test loop at a constant 53 mph for 20 miles....get's a bit boring after a while....same old scenery....

In everyday use good was 36 bad was 26.....

1.8T Ibiza.....34 mpg back from amythyst to bristol at 70 (slightly plus) mph ...v.suprised....first time i'd put Optimax in it too.....hmmmm.

****ing hell, some of ur mpg's with some of u is bad, but hey,ur cars r still faster  ,ahh well not 2 worry, im getting around 40 odd mpg, which isnt 2 bad considering shes a 96,i have a dtm peco exhaust-half system,k&n filter, havent got a spoiler YET??? so do ya's reckon a chip is worth it, how much off a difference would it make, performance wise  Im curious :p
