Looking at other posts there seems to be a common problem with the standard suspension set-up on the Ibiza. I had a 2.0 16v cupra and was amazed by the handling. It was totally standard bar better tires (same size) but the low, short chassis and wide tires won through. i was expecting the same from the 20vt. obviously this is not the case. is a full suspension overhaul really needed or is it just for those with 210bhp ibiza's? im going to be running 205/40/17's and was intending to sort the ride heght out with a set of springs? thanks in advance!:D
The standard suspension is ok for the standard car.
Of you go to 210BHP or do lots of track time then yes invest in a pss9 kit.
I think you should try the car then make your own decision.

The ibiza 20VT's have more power than handling on the stock suspension.... no doubt. Even std. 210's just exaggerate the problem.
A good set of springs would be an inexpensive place to start as the standard damping is firm.

top gear said that the suspension was to hard from standard so i thought a set of springs would help "settle" the car a bit more?

I think you would be right.
If I had'nt gone PSS9's I would have done what you are saying... step by step.
