View Full Version : connecting hands free unit to the ICE
For the ones that ask how to connect the cellular hands free unit to the ICE (radio cassette) of your ibiza car - here is the solution:
Connection with hands-free cellular you can mute when you contact PIN 2 in third house.
On back-side you can find 3 houses to connect with plugs. The lowest is third house.

Ah...but can anyone recooment a hands free kit that:-
A: doesn't plug itself into the ciggy lighter or
B: Involves painful surgery to the dash....
Answers on a postcard to :-
'I want my wildfire back' competition
Po Box......
I got a Nokia Full car kit with my Ibiza from Amethyst. Its fully wired in, not into the ciggy lighter.
The stereo automatically mutes when the phone rings (Or when you make an outbound call) and the stereo screen shows "TELEPHONE" as the source. The dash isn't cut up or anything.
If you want to know the fitting details then probably best to ask the guys that fitted it back at Amethyst.... try asking Swinny.
Thanks
Ben

I had my old Nokia hands free kit fitted by Swinny @ Amethyst.. Nice neat job and not mucho money. They can supply and fit many kits.
The tax disk holder aerial is a nice touch. Had one when I fitted my kit to my A6. Neat and no holes to make in bodywork. :)

Apologises for going off topic but Ibizacupra you refer to your A6. How did you find this car to own and drive? I have noticed that they are reasonably priced second hand but have read reports that says the ride is not very good.
Thanks

I fitted some H&R springs to mine (-40mm drop) and it was absolutely superb after. A real Limo. Very comfortable, and eats miles.
I really liked the car.... Miss it really. :(
Ibiza's great, if a little frantic at times... Small car thing & big power. - fun though when you want it.
2.5Tdi is a really torquey motor.
Mine was the petrol 2.6 V6 SE auto in Tornado Red.
I seriously considered an A8 when changing the car... 4.2 Quattro :) (not new but for a 4 year old car it had all the trick bits you could ever want)

Very Interesting to read your comments on the A6. I was having a look at some old mags at the weekend and noticed that the TDI does 0-60 in 8.4 secs has in gear acceleration to match hot hatches but still returns around 40mpg!! Very impressive for such a large car.
Would you recommend the Auto box? I have mixed feelings about Auto's but feel that on this kind of car perhaps it better suits their nature.
Its funny really you have gone from a big smooth motor to a small frantic one and I currently have a small fun mtor and am thinking about changing to a big smooth one. I can't decide whether to go from one extreme to the other or stop somewhere in between (thats where the possibility of a Leon or Toledo appears)
What would be good would to be able to afford a range of cars to suit varying needs but unfortunately for most people money prevents this.

I liked the auto box, but prior to having the audi I hated the idea of it.. In reality it was perfect for the car... and the best auto box I have driven. It senses the driving and adjusts to one of five programmes to suit, from sporty to economical. What really impressed me was the way it changed down the box when pushing on, so always being in the right gear for power to be applied.- like approaching a roundabout and accelerating into an dout of one.
The TDi with auto would be pretty good given the torque from the motor, as it will easily allow the low/mid range surge to glide you along at quite a brisk rate. The petrol V6 was'nt a revvy number by any means, but the pairing of auto and V6 was sweet.
I miss the car. I went from racey Sprint car Jetta to Audi A6, and back to racey Ibiza. Each are great... Shame I can't run all of them though... I'd jump into the Audi and drive to Scotland any day... so comfortable and smooth - fresh as a daisy at the other end, non-stop journey too as it has a huge fuel tank.
Those were the days!! :( :) Still I sold it to a friend so I will still see it around, and at least its gone to a good home. :)

Does anyone know of a kit for the Leon Cupra. I want to install a handsfree (not a plug in & stick screws through the dash type) for either a Nokia 8250 (mine) or Ericcson T28 (wifes). May even try & install 2 kits.
Any help would be appreciated.
we found a plate that fitted down next to the stereo , but to be honest it needed a bit of bending and modifying to get it right
