Hi,

Am getting a K&N panel filter soon and looking into getting a custom performance exhaust fitted too to try and squeeze out some extra power. I'm also looking at a remap at a later date.

I have an 04 plate leon cupra 1.8 20VT

1. can anyone give me a breakdown on the standard exhaust setup?

2. Also what performance setup do people recomend for the above model and what sort of costs are involved???

being a cop (gulp! yes a cop!) i also have a few requirements:

A. i need it to be road legal (i.e. to pass an MOT and so i don't get pulled by the traffic dept due to a flame shooting out when i change gears!!!!)

B. i also don't want it to sound too loud.

i take it the cat has to be left in???

i'm new to this modding lark so be gentle.

cheers,

Sat

PS, does anyone have any other mod advice other than filter, exhaust, remap that can help me maximise power???

I would advise not touching the exhaust unless you are changing the turbo too, for the money you need to spend the gains are minimal (maybe 5bhp) and the turbo spooling up a bit quicker.

Spend your money on;-
Remapping the ECU circa £400 will give circa 30bhp extra
Dog Bone engine mount - £80 for the part will improve drivability (do a search on the forums for details of this)
Short Shifter - Circa £80 for the part reduces gear shift throw

Possibly upper and lower strut braces too  all VW / Audi parts so nothing that will affect your warranty

cheers.

is there any additional under the bonnet mods that I might want to look at other than a filter prior to a remap that will help me get the most out of my remap???

also, as you seem clued up, can you advise on what remap option(s) is the best performer for my car?

and as for the strut braces would an upper as well as lower ones be worth it and is this top one also a VW/Audi part? Don't suppose you know the part numbers??? do i need to go to VW/Audi for these or do Seat dealerships do them?

I take these strut braces work fine with the standard suspension set up??? i did initially consider lowering my car but have changed my mind after driving a mates lowered ibiza cupra which was tight as! and since i mainly drive on crazily bumpy back roads the likliehood is i'd end up crippled after every journey to and from work!

cheers for your help. much appreciated. as i say i'm new to the modding game.
