depends on what size sub you are planning to put in there and how you are planning to make the enclosure

I thought that it was a legaly requirment that you had a spare wheel in your car. I know that it won't pass on MOT without one (i think). You should check this out before going ahead.

You don't legally require a spare wheel.

If you have one with a bald tyre then you'll fail an MOT. Remove said item and you'd pass. Doesn't make a great deal of sense....but there you go! :)

Several cars are now getting delivered new without spares - just a can of tyre-weld-type stuff to (hopefully) get u home. If you asked me to name the cars I'd struggle..... can't remember at the moment... :(

as far as i am aware you do not legally require a spare wheel
and a great many of people who compete with there car systems do not have a spare wheel at all and have cars over 3 years old which require a current m.o.t certificate
my own car only has a can of tyre weld
lamborghini diablo came standard with a can of tyre weld
as did bugatti eb100
and mcclaren f1
all supercars i know but all still require an mot for the roads

Well, you learn something everyday. Still. I'd rather have a spar instead of some gunge to fix a hole in my tire.

I not sure I'd want to lose the spare either (the flats I usually get can't be fixed with gel). I know JL audio makes a custom for the golf/bora that keeps the spare. It might be a good idea to try and make a similar box, where you'd just lift the trunk mat up a couple of inches.
