View Full Version : 007P "Wrong" way around?

Hi guys,

I'm hoping you can help me, i'm kinda new to all this modding lark.

Right, i've decided to plump for a 007P DV, and i hear reports that mounting it upside down (or whatever) results in a louder wooshy noise??

Is there really much difference and why? Are there any reasons that this might be a bad idea, or has anyone here done it?

Cheers

Makes no difference either way, the sound will be the same. It's just mounting it one way is "supposed" to make it open quicker. In my experience it makes no difference which way round it is.

I believe Forge have confirmed there's no difference (but do a search). One way, the pressure to be released is being held against the side of the piston, the other way it's against the base. It therefore makes some sense to me to mount it the wrong way round.

Hmm that's odd as the info i was using is from http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/valve.pdf ... there is a bit there that states that it's been proven to be quiter if fitted the right way up... ?

Is the 007P any louder than the standard DV? While my inner Kev would quite like that, the rest of me would rather I didn't sound like a bus!

If your car is completely un-modified in all other respects, you won't be able to hear the DV no matter which way round it's mounted. So don't worry about it :)

It makes a gay noise depending on amount of boost if you fit it the incorrect way... I've done it before just to see and its the worst noise ever!! Just fit it the normal way, or get a BV30 (Baileys re-circ, its louder)...

The Forge was never designed to be a MOD, more of a better, more reliable OEM part... lol

You could also get a TIP, an induction kit, & an FMIC... these all help the 'dumpage' noise your talking of...

The 007P normal way round will make no extra noise, if it does, its only slight...

Hope this helps...

Mike

Do a searchy ;)

You get a slight change in sound as it's metal and not plastic, but you'll hardly notice it.

You do get a little squeek when its backwards.

It does get really annoying after about 5 mins

I swapped back round straight away. for louder sound get mapped and CAI fitted mate

Thanks for all the advice fellas - I have been looking at Dynatwist CAI too so maybe that's the way forward!

Yeah they are a great bit of kit, but the best way to improve 'dumpage' as previously said is a remap...

More pressure = Louder dump

and a Carbonio CAI for amplification of the sound (assuming you have a car it can be fitted to!).

and a Forge/Samco TIP :)

Just a quick question on the subject of forge dump valves...
(sorry to hijack but thought this one had been answered and saved opening a new thread!)
I bought a forge 007p from forge and on closer inspection my is hexagonal instead of round at the top which is what I see on the website and on other compared mk3 ibizas, is this the new shape or have i been sent the wrong model?
Thanks

You just have the latest design valve. All 007p will look like this from now on (well at least until we get bored of this shape and change it again ; ))
