View Full Version : Fed up, gonna get upsoluted next week!!!
Right, I have had it with BMW 328i's playing with me on the motorway like i am driving a ford focus!!!,
They can out acellerate me at every speed and It's time to Upsolute my car!!!, I am going to book it in for the upgrade next week, and after that 328's better watch out:D :D :D
Mosser,
I know you'll keep us posted when you get the remap done! :)
Look forward to hearing all about it.....
Certainly will, and if anyone wants to see what the power difference is like, pop over to bracknell and i will demonstrate it !!,
Hopefully it will be as good as they say but with 212 BHP it has got to be a noticeable power difference:D

So it really increases the BHP by over 17% with nothing but a chip remap?
Why not?
(The TDi upgrade gives +30% via remap alone).
Mosser, you wanna press that pedal a bit harder. BMW 328 should not be much of a match.
yeah, must admit my 150bhp Primera GT cold keep up with 328's, although be warned, the quoted 193bhp may not be what thay got. German taxation works on bhp (thats why most german car have bhp's such as 150, 170, 193 etc etc) and BMW are known for their under estimating (or under quoting) of BHP.
Neil
What is a 328's 0-60 anyway???
Rich
Quoted about 7.8, but most magazines have managed sub 7 seconds.
Neil
Anyone know of a rolling road in the bracknell area?, and if so how much they might charge for a dyno plot?,
It would be interesting to see the before and after effects of the upgrade, and i am interested to see what my cars like now its fully run in (47,000 miles).

Are people that are getting this done declaring it to their insurance company, what with it being a stealth mod and all?
EDIT - Also, has anyone got before and after 0-62mph and 0-100mph figures?
I declared my RSD conversion to my insurance. As the chip (officially according to the paperwork) gives 195bhp it is insured as a 10% increase in performance. It cost me an extra 40 quid or thereabouts.
Rich
My chip mod doesnt need to be declared as i am on an any car any driver policy!! so it doesnt matter how much power it has
Well, I've gone and booked my car in for the upsolute upgrade for next wednesday:D
It takes 4 hours to fit and costs £295 but they give a 10% discount to furum members making it £265.50,
It takes the car to 212BHP and ups the torque to 300Nm (from 235), this includes rolling road tuning, If the RR session is skipped it will be about £40 cheaper
They said if anyone else wants to get it done at the same time as me then they will offer us all an additional discount so let me know and we can get it arranged,
Cant wait to test out my new power now :D :D
Oh, and i forgot to say that they can change or remove the speed and/or the rev limiter as per customer instructions too!!, but i'm not having my rev limiter removed!, far too risky, might have it increased to 7500 though, what does anyone think about doing this?
Damm, I'm in Holland next wednesday:(
You could enqiure about price for the TDi chip though, or has it already been confirmed as £295 too??? I assume 295 is inc. VAT??
See, I'm good to you boys aint I ?

Upsolute have standard pricing....all remaps are the same.
Price includes VAT and fitting........
Looks like another thing on my Xmas list together with the Cupra Alloys, Centre arm rest and clear side repeaters:D
Haven't got any holiday left this year, hope they do weekend installs!!!
You certainly are good to us Cupraman!!, saving us money as well as providing an excellent forum
Yup, the chip is the same price for the tdi110, it takes your measly :D :D 110HP up to 143!!, and the torque from 235 up to 290NM, well worth the upgrade i recon!
Hi
This might have been asked before, but how does this upgrade affect your SEAT warranty?
I would also like to know where I can get an Upsolute remap, maybe a forge dump valve and some other things done?
I live near Edinburgh but would travel if needed to get a good job done
:p
looking for any recommendations
ta
Steven
Not sure how the upgrade affects warranty, but they give you a copy of your original chip so you can plug it back into your ecu if you want to if a warranty claim arises, Its very unlikely that they will open you ecu to check for this,
Ultimate perforrmance in kent are currently the only place you can get the upsolute upgrade from in the U.K., but you can send your ecu off for the upgrade to save driving down although you would miss out on the rolling road session that is included with it!!,
Forge dump valves are available mail order from loads of places, or i think you can buy direct from forge themselves
 Cheers Mosser,
Looks like a wee holiday in the south of England may now be on the cards :D
Thanks,
Steven.
PS: May have got carried away with the smilies:p
 :p :D .
PPS: Red is a nice colour!!!
I also forgot to tell everyone that the Borg Warner KKK03 turbo that the Leon is using is rated to 15psi and the upsolute chip increases boost to 14.5psi, although they are tested to 20psi in the factory

Do they have a rolling road at their premeses?
Bill
I would hope that they do as i am paying for the rolling road tuning!!, without it, it is 40 quid less

SWW!
Impossible Performance are currently the only UK distributor. There will another 2 more (I beleive) in the coming weeks.....
I have been approached by a gent who will service more northerly regions.....although I don't think he is actually based in Scotland. He's being a little coy 'til he can make the full announcement officially, but he's confirmed he will offer a discount if I have a number of names. Similarly - if we have a few folks, he'll come to us.
Let me know if you are interested.....
PS - another alternative is to post / courier your ECU to Impossible Perf ~ saves you the petrol and fitting costs ('cos you'll be fitting it yourself.....which isn't hard).
Mik

Mik,
put me down for one! I am collectimg my Leon in 2 weeks and didn't fancy the long drive down to Kent, a more Northern based distributer would be good.
Cheers.

I was just asking if they had one or used someone elses.
could you let us know how you get on... (as I'm sure you would anyway)
cheers
Bill
I will give a full report on the chipping and quality of service, facilities etc, I already know they can remove the speed limiter (electronically limited to 142mph in ecu) and up the rev limiter a bit
Thanks for the offer Mik
I would definitely be interested, so if things come together please give me a shout!!!
I would rather get somebody who knows what they are doing to do it as I am not really confident with stuff like this.
Ta again:cheers:

SWW ~ no problemo.
I'm waiting for "the man" to come back to me with approx timescales......if we are talking 3 months away then that's probably too long for me!
When I get this I'll post messages on all the Model-Specific forums polling interest in a "group buy" type thingybob for "Northerly folks"..........
PS ~ The "fit yourself" option isn't difficult ~ I have had my eye on Upsolute for about a year, and without a UK supplier my only option was going to be "courier ECU to Switzerland and back". Still worked out at less than £300 fully insured ~ but you lost use of your car for 3-4 days, and support was far away if you had any issues. I'm delighted however that Upsolute are getting into the UK just as my car arrived :)
As far as I know ('cos I haven't actually done it).....ECU is accessed via panel at right-hand-rear of engine bay ~ couple of screws. You then remove ECU fixing (couple of screws?) and unplug it. Not hard ~ even for a novice? Refitting is simply the reverse of this ~ should NOT need vag-com set-up.

Mosser,
So whats the verdict then maytee......:)
My car is Damm fast :D :D :D ,
It wheelspins in 1st, 2nd and 3rd now even at 60mph its still wheelspinning scrabbling for grip!!!,
I recon its one of the best things you can do to you leon, and at £265 including rolling road before and after charts its a bargain too!!
There is lots of power available low down now, but when you hit 2100rpm all hell breaks loose!!, the car flys off and you dont even get a chance to look at you speedo!!, too much going on to do anything apart from concentrate on cars around you and plot your way round them all cos almost nothing on the roads can keep up!!
On the motorways, pulling away in 6th gear is even faster than if you had dropped it into fifth!! and if you do drop it into 5th then you end up wwwwwaaayyyy over the speed limit into licence loosing territory in seconds!
AS you can tell, i like it and i wish i had done it sooner,
I have also bought a seriously nice boost guage which it backlight in a range of colours that you can choose, but i am gonna fit the red backlight to match all my other instruments,
I will probably fit it tomorrow and will let you know what sort of boost pressures it is running.

Sounds superb mate...
Did you get the before and after dyno plots? It would be cool to see what and where all the power is before and after.
Sounds very nice indeed. Wheel spin at 60mph! Christ!
Sounds a lot pokier than my 210 Ibiza. (still tight engine but none the less - yours sounds awesome)
Could you email or post up your power plots for us?
cheers chap.
Glad it worked out well for you.
How were Impossible Performance?
regards
Bill
My engine didnt seem to loosen up properly till it had 30-40,000 miles on it, and coupled with the chip it is awesome!,
The bod at impossible performance had a few problems because he reads out the program in your standard chip and emails it to upsolute HQ, they do the necessary mods to the program and email it back, then he blows it into a new chip and installs it into the socket he fits into your ecu,
But upsolute had problems with the file corrupting during transfer, so by the time it was done it was too late to go on the rolling road :( ,
But i am going back on friday to get the before and after rolling road tests done and will have my boost gauge fitted by then so will be able to check out what boost pressures the standard chip runs and what the new chip runs, so a little bit more waiting i'm afraid for the test results!
Congrats Mosser...I tuned in eagerly this morning to hear your results
Starting a new thread would have been a better way to announce it though
Look forward to seeing dyno plot when you get it....shame you don't have a direct "before & after" though.....
Mosser,
Did you go for the remote change of engine maps??
(It allows you to change to and from your old and new engine mapping by using a keyfob remote control)
I take it you have to use Super or Optimax petrol?
Any idea what fuel consumption is?
Sounds like a billiant upgrade though, as long as you hang onto the steering wheel!

Upsolute have not released this yet (or prices for it).....but it is a superb idea, and is apparently due "very soon"....but it has been like this for a couple of months now.

Look at the stats on the Upsolute site ~ economy is actually increased when you are not hoofing it.....obviously uses more when it's on "full song" but most users report "no overall difference".
I anticipate Mossers' economy will decrease markedly. ;)
But hw won't give a monkeys....
