bill, I read on cgti that you recommend/use ATE discs and Pagid FR pads, my question is this,
I can get hold of zimmerman 280 mm discs for £16 +vat , do you think they are any good, they are not drilled nor grooved. Are they any better worse than ATE or standard SEAT parts for that, pad wise i have fitted a new set of pagid (fr5050) to my 16v and are better already only after 5 miles over my other cheapo pads!!

I've seen a nicely drilled zimmerman off a corrado with nice cracks running from all the holes.

I think Bill saw it too (at blyton?)

The Zimmerman Cross drilled are just their plain disks drilled I was told. No holes then cracks should be less likely.

ATE Power disks were what I would run (grooved) or Pagid FR disks.

Bill

was that the same disc gary bocking had at curborough?looked bloody leathal did that ATE look quite cheap and cheerful brend grooves scrape the pad so no gas build up or glazing think they would do the trick, remember to take em easy and not warp em;)

im back onto the standard discs cause i had the EBC grooved and dimpled Turbo discs (spotties) and they warped on me inside 6k , curborough was the harshest i was on them (not exactly a disc melting track!!)
i got the GFS catalogue (bout 60 odd pages) and the prices are quite good, i might hold onto the standard discs until after alconbury cause at least they are bedded in, ive found bedding new pads and discs in at the same time a bit bland and sometimes hairy.
cheers for the comments.

btw , the EBC discs warped while using greenstuff V4 pads, i was quite surprised myself. I would have thought using a harsh pad, something like the blue pagids would have made a mess of the discs, but not greenstuff.

EBC and Tarox are two brake manufacturers I have had bad experiences with and hence will always avoid them in the future.

ATE power discs seem OK to me, but no trackdays yet. Garys discs are Dubsport ones

Bit of confusion there Prof, the cracked Zimmermann disc I was showing peeps at Curborough was Daz Ashby's off his VR6 Corrado.

We'll, I personally have had no bother mine (Dubsport drilled things) in over a year of hard use.
