Does anyone knows if it's possible, to build a 6 speed gearbox into a Seat Ibiza Cupra R.
Is there somebody who did this already.
Is this possible??
Thanks.

Dennis.

Dennis,

There are quite a few companies doing 6 speed gearboxes for the Ibiza... try TSR, Stealth, Autotechniks. Most use a Quaife or Gemini gearbox, so you can choose custom ratios if you want.

Also, the Leons 6 speed gearbox should fit into an Ibiza... its the same engine its attached to.

Thanks
Ben

THe Leon Box will foul on the chassis of the car, but the fitting of the engine doesn't look the same at all (pics later) so i don't know if it will fit.

leon engine has vvt, dunno if that would make it different, maybe just the head?

Hmm, would be nice i guess but expensive too. I'm not sure the Ibiza R needs it due to the nature of the vehicle. The leon is more of a touring car and probably benefit from 6 gears (not to say you can't have your fair share of fun in it!)

Be interesting to see if the mk4 Ibiza cupra has a 6 speed box.

Yes it's a nice car but I'm not used to the Cupra R yet...It's mine for one week now.
I am still comparing to my 265 hp golf VR6...

Just to let you know m8 that the Std Cupra R's in general seem to have more power and torque than book (even the AYP engines). Nice to hear eh?

That's very nice to hear BUT the Beezer doesn't come close to my "old" VR6..(yet) :(
But time will heal all wounds( and APR will solve my problem):p

you pays' yer money and takes yer choice!

Personally I would not have though there's a huge difference seeing as the beezers is lighter.

But then again I never drove a 265 BHP Golf!

Have fun m8. Keep me updated of the R mods. Very interested (especially suspension)

Dormouse,

I will keep ya all updated on my mods but I'm not gonna change the suspension.
I like it very much.
BTW I've fitted a Forge D.V. yesterday,think it's a 006 but I'm not sure.

Yeah, I thought the suspension was quite good.

RE : Dump valve...go my original on...no probs with it.

Yep mine was still good but i've heard many complaints about the valve so i decided to change it .
And the turbo reacts a bit quicker (when shifting) now.

the add on kit is primarily for the golf as it uses the sharan/alhambra gearbox

good conversion though - and a DAMN bulky solid box to look at

i DO like the block girdle and the quick shift kits too

mmmmmm different ratios for the boxes too - damn :):)

Maybe one of you knows;I thought that the cupra r(ibiza) was only delivered in yellow.
How is it possible that "Nobber"has a black one?
