Hi Everyone.

Ok, I know that this is discussed all the time, everyday in some part or another! I’m sure that if I searched through the hundreds of matches to "APR" or "Chipping" etc. I could eventually find what I’m looking for...

What I would really like is a simple low down on what the options are for chipping/mapping/converting my Ibiza Cupra?

When I brought the car I was taken for a Quick drive in an APR Ibiza. Now this one had a Steppable? chip, as in you could hold down a button and the chip would kick in. Can this be done with all engine upgrades?
What are the companies out there and what do they offer? Amd, APR, Jabba...
How do their prices compare?
Does this affect the warranty?

Questions, questions!! Would really appreciate any information or a link if this has been covered before. As you can see I am new to all this and only have a vague understanding of what is obviously a huge subject.

As a suggestion it would be nice to build up some sort of database/table that we could all look to, that would let us compare different products, who supplies them, cost, differences, ratings etc...

Ok,

APR use their EMCS system where, if you want, they fit Cruise Control which allows you to switch between std and peformance programs, and/or any other programs you purchase. They can also fit just a straight re-map without the CC.

Im not going into the full blah de blah, read www.apreurope.com or drop them a mail apr@apreurope.com

AmD re-map on their rollers www.auto-amd.com

Jabbasport have also been having success with their re-maps, using an optional boost controller

check out www.jabbasport.com

RSD are Oettinger dealers, info on them on www.roadandsport.com

then theres superchips www.superchips.com

Thers still more that escape me, some of them have demo cars you can drive, APR have an ibiza you can test.

Dont let anyone tell you what to buy, make an informed decision

that should cover it

If you can make it to a track day sometime, I'm sure someone will take you out in their car, probobly one from every tuner.

Mine has a Jabba chip and I'm very pleased with every aspect. As Saul says make your own choice from the info available and what you want from the car.

Be warned the prices can be very different once adding the nice bits.

Just beware of some people claiming TUV approved products with guaranteed power levels of (x) or (y).

These engines do vary, and it is a might big assumption that yours will be a good one to begin with. You would be surprised to see (x) power for example if your base engine started some 20bhp less for example. (hypthetical example, but I have heard of a stock 20VT Ibiza run 145bhp where it should have been 156bhp std.)
