I don't like to type this but I'm thinking of jumping ship but, still withn the VAG group.

I'd love a Mk.3 Leon but I'm no longer keen on the new red.

At present I have a mk.2 Leon diesel PD 2.0 TDI and I'm looking towards the current petrol 2.0 TFSI in the Golf.

Has anyone any real world experience of the fuel economy difference..

Nope. None.
But you’ll notice your wallet needs to be deeper.
Especially if you like a few revs every now and then.

Thats if I keep the TDi Leon as it'll cost soon due to blocked up injectors, turbo and the inlet side of the engine, right? so a TDi is cheap motoring..

Mileage is always going to be much better with a smoky than if driving petrol.

did 150 miles and went through ~£40, late the other night in a couple of hours

must be 7-10 mpg

but i have a very heavy right foot

set to overfuel for safety as a rough guess, better than running lean

went from a full tank to a quarter tank in 150 miles, and costs £60 to fill the old girl up, so guessing £40 down the swanny

same as going out to a pub, or a meal out, or some people go down the bookies, I prefer a '4 wheel rocket ship'

You say that but, on the work fleet we have always had petrol's cover the same millage as diesels but have always had less gone wrong with them, so actually costing less overall..

I'd guess you'll probably halve the mpg moving to petrol... I think if you do a lot of miles derv still makes sense I changed to derv from petrol and the saving basically paid for the car, I keep looking at petrol but still can't make it stack up at the moment for the miles I do at the moment.

Yup, I like to fill up on the 1/4 mark (less stress on in tank fuel pump). So from full-1/4 in my FR I got around 360 miles. In the Cupra I get 180 miles.
