Indeed but unless you have had a failure I doubt they will replace them all just in case - unless there is an official recall. Mine being done because I have had two recent failures

Does this problem affect just the Siemens injectors? If so, is there an easy ID to tell whether a car has them? Mine's a 57 plate FR170.

Please help!

I had the same problem. Engine cutting out and wouldn't restart. Garage diagnosed as injector failure and Seat agreed to replace all four injectors and wiring loom. However, after replacing the parts and resetting fault codes the car fired up but then started to run with a misfire. Now the computer is logging a fault code P0200 - injector circuit open.

Can anyone explain what might be wrong here?

It's an independent garage who are doing the work so I'm not sure what kind of fault code reader they are using. I've been without my car for two weeks now and really starting to get quite frustrated. Garage are being really helpful but seem to be stumped.

I've just called into the garage to see my poor car. Fired it up and it's running on 3 cylinders. New wiring loom and new injectors. Garage said they would trace all the wiring from injectors - new loom - back to ECU incase there is a short somewhere. Failing that, I have no idea!

It seems to be 100% siemens pizeo injectors. If you have a PD170 it's Siemens. The 140 was Bosch. Sometimes good to have less power!

no, I am wondering what they are replacing the ones in the pd engines with? If the same - was it a dodgy manufacturing batch in 06/07, or have they improved the design since then?

Injector saga!!

Does anyone know if the dealer is obliged to offer a courtesy car? My 07 fr is with the main dealer in Belfast with an injector failure. I had it diagnosed by a vw mechanic and spoke with seat uk regarding a goodwill replacement. The dealer said that all 5 of the courtesy cars were on loan and not available until the 25th April!! Would speaking with seat uk make them get their finger out?

How did you get them to do this? About to start writing the letter but if you just phoned them and they accepted then great, two failures so far hence wanting the remaining items replacing.

Thanks in advance for the heads up.

I emailed them. Had 3 leons, all serviced at SEAT, current FR two injector failers in 6 months, concerned about the other two, anything that proactively can be done, thank you etc etc And too my surprise they have ben superb, excellent customer service, the two replaced and paid for by SEAT and phone calls to see how getting on.

Picked my car up after repair on Wednesday. I contacted SEAT UK Customer Services on Tuesday and they've been great, but credit must also go to to David Cook Motors in Chadderton as they fought my corner. Between Seat UK CS and the dealership I've had the injector replaced free of charge. Apparently they're now replacing this injector for free if they fail. The factory is footing the bill and all dealerships should be being made aware of this.

It was number 4 which failed on mine and the replacement injector is a different part number so there's obviously been a revision to the part somewhere along the line.

I'm still a tad concerned about the 3 which haven't been replaced given the way the problem manifests itself though i.e. dead engine, power steering and power assisted brakes. I was fortunate to only be doing about 15Mph at the time.

Does anybody know if they are replacing them with the same Injectors or have they got new uprated parts?

Have done that now JB we shall see what happens Monday. The replacement of the two dead ones were sorted with out issue but no mention of other two or whether the loom was done.

Let's hope.

And Andrew JB it seems to be different as a new part number has been applied for replacement parts.

Just back from a holiday and had a brief read through this thread. I see VOSA is involved? And Seat are paying up for the injectors in some cases?
I had injector 2 fail last year and had to cough up for the repairs myself, replacement loom and new injector. Seat wouldnt pay anything at the time as the car was not bought through Seat dealership.
What's the deal with VOSA being involved?

Injectors replaced, now rough ride.

Hi,
'08 plate leon FR 170, our first injector failed at 70mph on dual carriageway (luckily adjacent to a parking place!) in Oct 2010. Luckily still under warranty so replaced FOC. Second this week fast lane of the motorway at 70mph!! Just outside of warranty but Seat UK great and have replaced all three remaining ones FOC.

Unfortunately the car's ride is now dreadful and feels as though it is misfiring. Revs appear to be approx 3 - 4000 less in top gear at certain speeds than were before this week and according to the computer we are now getting 8-9 mpg more!! What is going on? Additionally these things apparently go at 50000 miles so does that mean we'll all get the same issue at the next 50000 mile landmark?

Thats the million dollar question! The ONLY reference I have found so far is that one independant mechanic on Audi.net mentioned the replacement injector had a different final letter, so it probably is a different part because of the number.

I'd be pretty peeved to find out they are just putting the same part in, but it could turn out that this is the case. The PD170 was a final PD run before common rail, so I can't see VAG pouring heaps of money into fixing a now outdated technology.

Hate to say it but the new common rail engines list "Pizeo injectors" as part of any car I can find over here in Australia. Can't say I'm a fan of that fact....

I'm having very little luck getting any sort of interest in the problem over here in Australia, our "watchdogs" are more like "watchhamsters"....

Loving what you lads are up to though!!

I take it that's Agnew's? SERE have won SEAT dealership of the year...mainly due to Dave in the parts dept.

Agnew SEAT crashed my leon and when I complained, they told me, in writing, to "consider purchasing your next car elsewhere".
