Oil...What to use in your TDI

I just changed the oil in my TDI, same bhp (110); Mobil 1 10w-40 is the perfect oil for this engine.
+ Diesel engines don't like very thin oils.

The Mobil 10w-40 is one of many suitable oils for the car, but it is by no means perfect for it. as it is a mmineral based oil, much better is available with synthetics.

Most of the later diesel engines from the VAG group are running on 0w-30 so diesels can be happy on thin oil.

Cheers

Guy.

Thanks to answer Carpathian & Oilman it is a 110 Bhp TDI. As for "I don't think so" ....................not sure what this is refering to ?

I hope its not a "bit thin"...............I'm currently using as I said above Mobil 1 which is 0W40. I wasn't so much worried re the viscosity but moreso the quality of the Oil

Paul

It will be fine mate.

I just bought Castrol Edge 5w40 I think. 505.01 Approved (in fact it makes a special point on the container that it is 505.01 approved, and designed for Turbo Diesel PD engines.

Sorry if this is a wee bit off topic but............
I topped up my car for the first time with Castrol Edge 5W-40 (£13.99 per litre  ) after 8000 miles.
About 1/3 of a litre so not bad for a new engine.

I'm now at 9200 miles.
SEAT recommend Repsol oil (the connections being obvious) but, will my local dealer use it in my car at the first sevice?
The dealer is Perrys in Aylesbury which is a multi franchise operation.

Regards Guy.
