2001 2L petrol Alhambra, I picked this up very cheap as spares or repair it is unusual as it is also converted to run on LPG. It won't keep running as the immobiliser is locked it came with a single 'new' looking key marked HU66TE it is Italian. It has a small red plastic panel on one edge. I don't know if it has a chip in it. I don't want to spend much on the car as I may end up breaking it - it's pretty tatty! Ebay has Emulators or bypass tools to defeat the immobiliser do they work has anybody used one? Some plug in the code reader socket some are bare circuit boards.
The engine sounds fine & has had all the belts & water pump, tensioner replaced. I got a few codes most relate to poor main earthing of the engine I can fix that. Any thoughts?

VCDS lite scanned the system & confirmed that the Key & the immobiliser aren't 'talking' I tried a plug in device that supposed to bypass the immobiliser it did all the 'right' things according to it's flashing led but didn't work so I'll be sending that back! I've fixed the broken door handle/lock with a kit of parts & a metal replacement for the broken hook that operates the door catch. I suspect I will have to get a specialist to sort the key problem quotes of around £80 to reprogram the key. We used to have some really good specialists on this forum but looking at other unanswered questions I guess they are too busy to plough through our problems.

Paid £75 to 'remove' immobilizer so engine now starts & runs, but still need to 'kill' the alarm which operates if I key lock the doors.
