Hi Guys
I'm getting on with the serious business of my 80k 06 fr130 and in the main having a ball
Covering 5k since 22nd of April.
BUT the range is frankly PANTS, I've been spoilt with my E66 730 for the last 10 years which
Routinely gave 700 range.
I've used the venting method to get a bit more/my 105 mile journey to work this Morning yielded a fuel gauge that still shows full but I wondered if any of you have had a go at swapping the standard 45 litre tank for say a 55 litre Golf (or whatever version) tank?

Never heard of anyone doing it, but a Mk4 Golf tank can't be very expensive so you could give it a shot.

Unless you need the car for work, in which case I wouldn't bother as it probably won't work and you don't wanna end up without a working car.

Cheers for the info and offer Badger.
No need (yet  ) for the bits but thanks for the thought.

As a 'latest news'.....
I ran the tank down to '10 miles' on the computer then headed to the Petrol Station.
Using the vent method and filling it riGHT UP I skweezed 53.4 litres in/£61

Range on the computer showed 675 miles after a little while, still not on par with
the 7 series but sticking £105 in that wasn't unusual .... it'll be interesting to see
have far it travels before it needs another fill.

Watch this space

What sorta MPG are you seeing, do you keep a check on it or are you trusting the computer?

Yes and tbh it's not all that I'd hoped for.
Sticking the cruise control (yes mines got it) at 58mph
then driving a couple hundred miles it'll do 65 to the gallon
Brimmed not computer which optimistically reads 89mpg.
Sit at 70 and it drops to 53/54, above 75 47/48, above 90
(In Germany obviously) it will guzzle, while low 30's are
Easily achievable above 100/110.

For trips around town (Oxford) with a couple runs to London or the Coast
Each week I get typically 48 out of her.

Quick update....
After filling I drove to the Coast, gauge didn't move.
This morning did Coast to East London and back.
Gauge didn't move until 225 miles covered, 310 so far.
I reckon if I keep my lead boots at home we might see
550+ this tank.

Finally.......
561 miles from a vented tank.
52.9 litres used.
48.3 per gallon
Mixture of round town and 75 mph
Motorway (380) miles.
