Aero wipers - how do you replace the blades?

Please could someone help me with this, as not for the 1st time I've just spent over an hour on the web trying to figure out how to get new wiper blades for my car. The car, 56 reg Ibiza FR has SEAT AERO wiper blades fitted from new, the end of the arm isn't a U shaped bend like normal, but a rather complex attachment which then clips into the blade itself. The blades have had it and need replacing, but the question is how??? Its driving me crazy.

I've searched for other threads, and ALL the ones I've read through cover changing standard wipers to AERO via retrofit kits.

I've contacted the dealer, who wants to charge me £15 for EACH blade - rip off.

I've found a page with intructions on how to dismantle the AERO blade and use a refill kit to replace the rubber, but not all refills fit, and have you ever tried to find a 21" wiper refill? I'm really struggling.

Does anyone have any advice on this, how to change the blades, where from, or even where to get a refill from and if it will fit? I'm sure other people must have this problem also?

Thanks!

simple solution is to trade your car in:whistle:. Or perhaps more sensibly if you're struggling, nip into Halfords (sorry for swearing) and get them to change them (sure its free?)

Edit to say, thinkg about it on my old mk5 golf, i'm sure all you did was lift the arm, swivel the blade round 90 degrees or so and then pulled them off? I bought some new blades from Halfords (cant remember the price) but i think it showed you how to remove them on the box too

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, but I think I should clarify as I've not been very clear. I know how to get them off (they have a kinda button you can press and the slide out of the arm), but finding the replacement blade, or even a refill is what I'm struggling with.

Also....next problem, can someone confirm that for the rear 13" wiper, I can simply swap it for a Bosch 13" super plus blade? The blade itself has a plastic cover over it. The manual says I should yank the thing and it will come out. I haven't done more than a gentle pull not wanting to break it.

By blade i mean full rubber with metal bit behind it that you stick on the end of the arm, when I say refill, I just mean a bit of bendy rubber.

how can changing wiper blades be so complicated? :wtf:

Ok, I've managed to remove the rear wiper blade by pulling it. It clipped out of the plastic bit. I also found some mention of the 13" bosch blade on the Altea forum so have ordered one of those and pray it fits. I beleive its not as flat however, which isn't a problem really.

I'm also about to order a 19" and 21" bosch super plus blade set from ebay, to rip apart and reuse the rubber in the aero wipers. I'm hoping that as the aero blades are bosch made in the 1st place the rubbers might be a straight swap?

you can buy the fittings to convert normal blades from most good motor factors.

you dont need to change the clips in the ones i get hold of. mine work perfectly and did on my last 2 cars. so i cant fault them in any way at all. but if you insist on going to seat and getting your pants pulled down then be my guest ;)

if you do the job properly it would be a 2 min change over with having the exact same wiper in your hand that is pressed against the windscreen... me i do the job right the first time... shame that cant happen with women lol
