Coolant reservoir

I've noticed that the level in my coolant reservoir drops to around 1-2cm below the min mark pretty quickly (as fast as a day) but never goes any lower. As i'm topping it up and the level goes past the plastic ridge halfway up it seems to leak from somewhere around the reservoir. So assuming there is a crack in the reservoir at around the half way mark my question is how urgent of a problem is this?

I never get any overheating and don't see any problems with the cylinder head or anything but I'm aware it's a pressurised system and I'm unsure whether it would have any wider implications. As I say the fluid never goes any lower than a certain point so surely it should be fine as long as I keep an eye on it since the reservoir is just a surplus of coolant?

Cheers

I had the same trouble with my MK4 ibiza last year. was filling it up every couple of days. I first thought that it was due to me not topping the engine oil up as this was nearly dry too. But it kept happening even after the oil was topped up. I just bought some of that Holts Radweld stuff from Tesco. You just pour it into the reservoir as if you were topping up the coolant and this stuff plugs any leaks you have. Not sure if this will fix your problem but i never had any other problems with mine after this and i was driving it right up until i got my Mk5 on the 28th december
