hello when I turn my ignition on my engine management light doesn't turn on. I was wondering if ther was a way of testing to see if someone has made it like this to try cover up a problem. I unplgged my maf sensor to try and get a fault code to come up but all that happened was my traction control light came on dash like it was the EML is this normal? 2004 LCR

Traction control light will come on if you unplug your MAF (all Volkswagens/Audis do it for some reason)
Try a cheap £12 code reader off eBay to find out if there are any fault codes stored.

I guess you could unplug a coil and it should show eml then due to misfire. Not recommended but will do the job.
