I have a 66 plate Leon FR with the LED lights and I had to put my fog lights on yesterday for the first time. Is it normal for the front lights not to show as 'on' in the instrument cluster? I only get an indication when both sets are on. Thanks

Assuming it works the same as in my VW, the only indication that the front fogs are on is the rear fog light symbol beside the rotary light switch changes colour, which isn’t that obvious, especially if you’re using your front fogs during daylight hours.

I’ve always assumed that the rear fog light has a dashboard warning light so you don’t inadvertently leave the rear one on and ‘blind’ the driver of the car behind you. Probably not considered to be such an issue with the front ones dazzling the driver in front as the front fogs are low down (unless you’re driving an tall SUV, when they can dazzle as they’re that much higher).

Yes, when front fogs are on, no indication on the dash, only when the rears are on, there's a symbol on the dash.

Had to use it (both fronts and rear fogs) 2 weekends ago, at Oxford, on the way back, got very snowy and a bit foggy. Seriously couldn't see squat, end up doing 40-50mph on the highway. At least the fogs light up, more to the side, and more just in front the road ahead.

Mine used to come on quite often anyway (the fronts) as cornering lights, i switfty removed that 'function' as it annoyed me.
