Compared to the 195/45R16, the 195/55R16 is 7% bigger in rolling radius with a corresponding speedo error, and the 205/55R16 is 9% bigger. I would have to agree with your man at the garage as those are big increases. A 195/50R16 would be only 3% bigger, but why would you want to fit that over the 195/45? If you want to go to 205 width, then you need 205/45R16, which is the size fitted to the mk3 Ibiza Cupra R, and is only 2% bigger than your current tyres.
Well the only reason is that 195/45/16 are 40% expensive per each tire and thats quite alot for my budget, atm im running 195/45/16 front and 205/45/16 rear, what about 195 65 15? On steelies those tires are alot cheaper? 45 and 50 size of tire is much more expensive no matter of the wheel size, any suggestions?
195/65R15 are virtually the same rolling radius as 205/55R16. If you want 195 width on a 15" rim you need 195/55R15.
