Alarm issues

Hi all,
I'm having issues with my car alarm going off when driving and it's now doing it after locking the car as well. I've noticed that at times when locking the car that the indicators don't flash and the red light on drivers door don't flash after locking the car, this is a random thing and doesn't always happen. Something new but I wonder if it's related is at times the windows won't open/ close with the switches on the drivers door, this seems random too. I've had a friend scan the car a couple of times and the alarm went off while he was preparing to do it the second time but nothing came up relating to alarm or sensors.
Please help as it's quite embarrassing and I've come across a "comedian" who would beep his horn in unison with my car alarm which is funny but at the time not so much.

I'd bet door lock mechanism. Common fault.

Can be got off ebay for £20 odd. Will take a 2-3 if hours if not done before as you will also need to replace the carrier plate seal if you want to avoid the water leaking in problem.

Hi there.
Sounds like the divers comfort module is on the way out. Controls windows central locking etc. Do you lose the beep that should sound when door is opened with lights on.
When your indicators don’t flash when locking the car
You can usually find a door that hasn’t locked too.
As verbal kint said door locking module could be on the way out as well.

Hi,
Thanks for the quick replies. Yes, I forgot to mention the passenger door at the front does not lock at times.
What is the driver Comfort module or is it just another name for the door lock module?
Does this module need programming or is it just "plug and play".

Don't keep us in suspenders, what was wrong as it may help others.

I will let you know as soon as I have done it, worked till this evening (posting from works toilet.) and then again tomorrow morning early. I don't have any of the parts yet as I wasn't sure what it might be and needed to ask the question first. I will only have time Sunday and maybe try stripping it down and checking if there is a way to repair it while I wait for delivery. Might try the local breakers as there are a few bits I would like to get for my car.
Mk4 golf bits should be interchangeable or am I mistaken?

OK, there is one car(leon) at the breakers. "it's only been in the yard for a month".......... Have you ever had that sinking feeling that it might be a wasted trip.......
Does the dcc need programming to my car??

Managed to get both modules from the breakers but they were going to charge me near enough what I would have payed if I had ordered it from ebay. Didn't argue about it, just mentioned that that would have been the price if I had ordered it from ebay and obviously that the parts were untested, got the lot for £22. Hopefully I can get it done tomorrow and will report back with results.

You’ll need to re seal the door after opening it up. Otherwise wet carpets.

Please don't mention it, I've already done the doors. The leon I got the parts off was done with LOADS of silicone and probably sorted the issue but looked poo and was a pig of a job to separate. I've opened the lock module tonight just to have a look inside, tested the offending microswitch and it works so I will clean it properly tomorrow and fit it.

It is a pig.
Sounding like the comfort module then.
Mine started to play games 3 months back but like my Cupra before it, it self heals and the problem has disappeared. Not had it again. Fingers crossed.
Wish it could heal it’s VVT tensioner

You don't want to part with your self healing car do you? Mine has been pretty good to me to be fair but does have a few issues that needs looking at.

Sadly I’ve pumped a small fortune into it so will be with me for a few more years.
There always seems to be one thing or another to attend to on them.
Touch wood mine is in a solid state esp with all its upgrades.
Even going to give it super stickie Tyres for the track!

Sorry for the late reply. After 2 attempts at trying to separate that bitumen seal, lots of heat and a Stanley knife did it but there has to be a easier and better way, I cleaned and tried to repair the door lock module myself and it seemed OK for a day or 2 but I'll need to replace the module with a new one. The comfort module I picked up was different to the one on my car, I cleaned and checked mine, found solder balls on the pc board. I ended up taking the car to seat as I had to get something done to it and they reprogrammed it and it seemed to work. The issue with the comfort control is intermittent now and is seemingly corrected by locking the car with the key.
I have to get the door lock modules, want to do both front doors. Has anybody done this recently and where did they purchase their locks?
The same with the comfort control, where can I go to purchase?
Is there a easy way to get the bitumen seal to open?
Thanks,
Ed

I feel your pain at that bitumen seal!

I found the easiest way is to take it slow, pull a bit away at a time and resist the urge to think it has freed. Once you have enough up and free use that to help with the next bit. It loves sticking to itself, much like blu-tac. Now I find that I have only little traces left.

When reassembling use the backing paper, or greaseproof paper on the new seal strip. Stops it grabbing hold while you manhandle the carrier in place.

Keep the old stuff, has life left for other uses. At weekend used some to seal a neighbours expansion tank pipes so we could degrease the inside, his oil cooler is leaking into the coolant.

This is the lock I got a few months back. eBay item number:151974017518

As above with the seal
As for the locks/modules, the Bay has them at very reasonable prices (I bought and replaced all 4 and have had no issues over the past year)
Not sure about the comfort module tho
