No CEL downpipe for Cupra 280 ST? LHD/RHD is there actually a difference?

I'm trying to get hold of a no CEL downpipe for my RHD 2015 Cupra 280 ST, as I'm running a JB$ & would like to pass my MOT next year (after 4 years in NI, government test centres, no CEL permitted, no OBD II connection permitted during test). I placed an order with bull-x, but on discovering my car is RHD they cancelled the order stating it was LHD only. For the life of me I can't imagine that there's any difference in positioning or mountings for the exhaust system, considering altering anything that doesn't need to be altered when converting from LHD to RHD would only increase production costs. I could well be wrong though?

I contacted Agnews (Seat Dealers)and they sad that without a LHD chassis number they cannot confirm the part number for the downpipe and therefore cannot confirm if it is the same as the RHD part number/compare the fitment from the schematics. I don't really expect anyone to message me their chassis number, but if they were able to check the part number for the LHD OEM downpipe I would be hugely grateful. Of course sending me the chassis number would be good too, and then I can get Seat to check. It's really down to the level of helpfulness & trusting of anyone that replies.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

P.S. if anyone knows of a no CEL downpipe for the Cupra ST available in RHD, that would be good too.

Over complicating things?

I guess with all the waffle removed I'm simply asking is there a difference in the space where the downpipe goes between LHD & RHD cars?

Explanation

i don't know what a CEL or JBS is..

Hi Andy. A CEL is a check engine light. It comes on with an aftermarket catalyst if it's not causing sufficient reaction in the exhaust gasses to occur, which is picked up by the O2 sensor after the catalyst feeding back a signal outside the levels stored in the cars ECU as being within acceptable levels. A JBS was a typo, apologies. I meant a JB4. I half suspect the best Miltek with an O2 spacer would keep the light off for at least a bit if on stock boost anyway.. I believe the same HJS cat is used as in a bull-x pipe. I also was investigating mini-cat OK, spacers. They exist. Hard to tell if they're a gimmick or not? Some look flimsy, others look possibly functional. I'm reluctant to remap, I like the JB4. It feels like the car should have done coming out of the factory. Swapping the downpipe in & out with the stock one isn't something I relish the notion of.

The problem with the bull-X downpipe is clearance. It definitely doesn't fit rhd. Warner tuning have one coming out in April. I've made enquiries.

Downpipe part number

It seems the downpipe part number is the same for a LHD 290 ST & RHD 280 ST. Apparently the bull x downpipe occupies the same area as the OEM unit, so it seems that it's most likely the bull x unit does fit. In that light I've re-ordered it, on the understanding if it doesn't fit I can return it, but I have to pay for the postage.

Here's hoping.

I will report back how I get on :)

So, it doesn't fit

So, it doesn't fit. Back to the drawing board.

I've had a mini-cat O2 spacer fitted this morning to see if that will keep the CEL off. I have an issue. Something is causing the timing to pull on the dyno. It doesn't seem to on road logs. It hits 354 bhp, then on subsequent runs it loses approximately 20bhp. The logs form the JB4 don't show any reason for the timing pull that I can ascertain. It's definately occurring. Does a pending emission fault causse the car to puill it's timing?

Any ideas?

Cheers

I ran a BCS 200 DP on a Golf R with standard map and no CEL and it passed MOT.

Thanks for the info man. I've since fitted a hjs mini-cat O2 spacer. It's keeping the light off. Will report back more in a bit.
