Photobucket, where I have been using a free account ever since I first found it (from a recommendation on here, I think) has just disabled what they describe as "3rd Party Hosting", which means, and I quote -

"Photobucket defines 3rd party hosting as the action of embedding an image or photo onto another website.

For example, using the <img> tag to embed or display a JPEG image from your Photobucket account on another website such as a forum, Etsy, eBay auction listings, blog, etc. is definitively 3rd party hosting."

So all my photo links now show an invitation to upgrade my account to one costing $400 a year. I only use the account for hosting pics for forums like this one, so this is not going to happen. I will be looking for a new image sharing service. It will be fun going back and editing the posts too.

I use tinypic. It's a bit of an archaic interface by these days standards but I've been using it for probably 10 years and it seems to work OK so I never saw a reason to swap over to something more modern, plus I like to keep all my hosted images for embedding all in one place. It was designed specifically for hosting images where an embedded link is posted on a 3rd party website so I can't see them changing that unless they completely decommission the service. Ironically, tinypic is owned by Photobucket.

That said, if you're starting from scratch again then somthing like imgur or ImageShack would probably be a better alternative to use.

EDIT: Just did a quick search and this recent article popped up: https://www.lifewire.com/free-image-hosting-sites-3486329

Can do it from Dropbox apparently but you only have 2gb free. Shame Google drive doesn't allow it as I have terrabytes on there.
