Not the best but for me I like it, ruff and ready little weapon. All depends on what you like. You got the best color anyway.
Edit: also someone at some point spent a a lot of time buying and fitting parts. Well worth £900 but cambelt and stuff I would be worried about? Any service history? Owners?

Now do you see what I mean why I'm not so sure about this car? Do you think I should sell it and try to pick a slighty better condition one? Or keep it and do the few repairs and enjoy it? I'm kinda at a loss and confused atm...

Is a hard one to judge but it's imo had a hard life at some point. If your into the 1.8t then money will sort it out but 2k later you may regret it because that's about the money you will be looking at.

You paid 900 mate

You get what you pay for. I paid 900 for mine and now ot stands me in at 3500.00. And they bodywork still needs doing.

Cars are moneypits. Especially ones which are modded, old and cheap.

Just goes to show now much misuse the MK1 will put up with.

That’ll cost at least a thousand pounds to sort out. If not more depending on what other DIY mods it’s hiding.

If you’re enjoying driving it, then blast around in it for a while and sell it on before it goes pop.

It's alright to drive... Just wish I'd have walked away... I may just get the rocker cover done and get rid of it! What sort of price to you think I should be asking?

Clean the engine, sort the front grill/headlights and stick a bit of black paint wheel arch.

Put it up at £1,500 - The ‘pods’ are shiny enough to catch someone’s eye and you may get your money back.

£1500.. Wow that's a good start and could always buy a better one with that! Sounds like a plan! Cars currently in garage as we speak for the rocker cover gasket and exhaust brackets! Take a guess in the mean time of what price you think it's gonna be for them bits

You maybe lucky and find someone quickly who'd giving you over £1,000, a grand is more realistic tho.

But it's always worth trying in case, plus it makes the buyer feel like they've got a bargain if they've knocked you down on the price.

Well didn't get the exhaust done had no time to do it as they was closing! But I've cleaned up the engine and engine bay a little.. Any ideas on jetting some bits? Or is this not a good idea? I obviously wouldn't go crazy just need to get to the bits I can't clean with my hands!. But it's been faultless to drive! I almost think the power is simply too much for anyone person! But it's enjoyable.. Took my mate out tonight for a 5mins ride and he said it's silly power! I he was holding the door Handal as I went down the deal acrrageway. I think there might have been some poop! Lol

No don't do that, clean till you can reach and leave it there or asking for trouble.

Sorry I forgot to add.. Just for gasket fix I paid £50 all in! Happy with that result waites like an hour n 45min but so far so good.. Just gonna keep an eye on as I hope it's not gonna leak anymore! Guy at the garage said BMWs are like this. The gaskets get old and start to split in places. I just hope he did a decent job! I never see the old gasket so no telling if he actually did replace it! I forgot to ask to see the old one. If it leaks still il take it back!

There’s a number of videos on YouTube showing how to clean up an engine bay. Personally I wouldn’t recommend using a jet wash, particularly on such an old car.

I did mine last year, used a stiff brush (from a dustpan & brush set) first to get rid of the loose dirty. Then used the same brush to work washing up liquid into the oily bits and rinsed it off with warm water from a kettle.

The main things to focus on are the washer/coolant bottles and the air hoses. You can wipe bits of the engine with a damp cloth or baby wipes. There’s no need to go crazy just a few minutes work will make it look better.

Autoglym do a really good engine cleaner, £8 a bottle at halfords. Shifts oily muck with little elbow grease so reduces chances of you knocking something out of whack.

As mentioned above just clean what you can easily see/reach and avoid any electrical stuff
