hey guys I've bought a pipercross induction kit changed it over and the car spluttered revs and smoked out the back, changed it back to the standard and it's fine any idea why cheers
Hi James. Diesels tend to have an excess of air available to them and unless you have had the cylinder head gas flowed and/or larger (inlet) valves fitted, you're unlikely to ever need anything more than the standard airbox and filter.
The fact that your Pipercross is fffffing up your motors ability to run properly would seem to confirm this.
Stick it on EBay and enjoy your engine running correctly with the standard set up.
If you want more gO, get it mapped/chipped.
I took the two bolts out of the pipe connecting to the air box, then put the cone filter on, but there was a thin rubber tube connected to the airbox, which I blanked off with a bolt, any ideas sorry for the slow reply.

I've been told that either your new induction kit has the entrance for that "thin rubber tube" or don't bother changing it. Seems that the " thin rubber tube" sends info to the engine of air flow into it and the engine will function according to that info. If it's confused it will smoke too much and the rpm will be unstable. So I've heard.
Do you have solenoid block on on your drivers side? It looks like black plastik box from which goes (IIRC) 6 similar thin rubber tubes. If so, was one of them atached to the air box? If so, you have mashed vacuum managment when you blanket it.
It is easy to fix if that is the case. You should find the way to atach that thin rubber tube somewhere where it can get filtrated air or buy some micro filter and stick it into it.
If you got no black plastic box and I got everything you said wrong - then forget it as I don't know what it is.
