Afternoon all and Happy New Year,

My question is can the the sensitivity be altered on the auto wiper function. I know you can adjust it with the little wheel on the stalk but this is still not sensitive enough and fairly often I have to manually adjust the wheel down and then back up to force the wiper to swipe otherwise I wouldnt be able to see. If it is heavy rain then they seem to work fine, but once it slows to a drizzle then I have problems.

Mine works fine, if youre unable to see and it isnt wiping then there is something wrong.

mine are set to its most sensitive setting and work fine but I have had a new screen fitted recently and they seem to be working better than with the original screen, have you had a new screen fitted and maybe the sensor is not right.

Hi Steve, I have had my 2010 ST from new nearly 8 years now and if I have one complaint it would be about the auto wipe, works fine when it is really raining but in light drizzle I am forever doing what you are doing with the sensitivity wheel. I was told it could be altered in vcds but I am not sure. On one of my earlier services at Stoke Seat, I mentioned it to them and they supposedly altered it, but I am not convinced. I would swap it for the intermittent wipe of my previous Audi A4 B5 at the drop of a hat, but as I said before, my only complaint about a really good car....Julian

Hi, Only had the car since August so not sure if it has previously had a new screen or not.

Hi Julian, I thought I had read something like this before and tried to find it before I posted but didn't have any luck. Looks like it is something I am going to have to live with, but, like your self, this is the only complaint I have with the car.

It is due a service in a couple of months so will mention it then and see if they do anything.

Will let you know.

Mines the ST-Lux model and theres a rain sensor stuck to the windscreen up behind the mirror shroud. Mine wasnt plugged in properly when I first got the car (secondhand), once it was it tends to override the intermittent wipe, though usually to wipe more frequently not less.
Might be worth having a look at it.

Rich, I notice that you had a Citroen BX in the past, I hope you did not buy it! I had one but the saving grace was that it was a company car (got a few runs in as it sat in the layby waiting for the AA to tow it back)
Don't knock a valver until you've tried it! Back in the late 90's I was looking at 2nd hand Pug 205 & 309 GTis and realised the 16valve version of the 205/309 engine was in the BX.
I got 160 normally aspirated horses in a four door hatchback with a huge boot that weighed slightly more than a tupperware box. 0-60 of around 7.5 secs 137mph top end, brakes that would plaster you across inside of the windscreen and suspension that traded body roll for grip.
I absoultely fell in love with them and bought three in a row. Only got rid of the last one in 2015 when suspension parts became hard to find so sold her to a fellow enthusiast.

I also found that light drizzle doesn't activate the auto wipe so I have to check if it is on. Or do the wheel flick trick described above.

I guess you could say "it is not a bug, it is a feature" :D
