SEM in Sunderland are good, I've used them in the past and have been very happy with the end result. A few people at work have had there wheels done at The Wheel Specialist in Belmont industrial, Durham in the past year and recommend them also.

Thanks brucey, Ive used SEM historically and they were good but it was a long time ago. The wheel specialist is very local and much easier but I've heard nothing about them so its good to hear your getting positive feedback.

Thanks to all for the input.

Cheers for the tip Brucey, got The Wheel Specialist in Belmont to do the refurb. Job well done and a good set of lads.

If you don"t mind me asking, what did you get done to them (powder coated or sprayed) and how much did it cost?

Only reason I'm asking is that my winter alloys are now in desperate need of a refurb as this will be the 6th winter they have been on. I'm looking to get them done in the spring once I put my summer wheels back on.

Cheers

Hi Anthony,

They were powder coated 17" and cost around £270, think its a tenner more for 18's. They do a same day service, drop the car 1st thing and collect at the end of the day. Mine were a spare set so I left the wheels one Saturday then took the car the following Saturday morning to allow them to swap the tyres and wheels.

I must admit, Ive noticed today, quite a defect in one. I'll take it in next week for them to have a look and comment. How they handel this will prove their customer service. They also put valves on that are too long so Im going to ask them to replace with shorter ones. I'll leet you know how they handel problems, however I cant see there being any issues.

Cheers Mike

Thanks for the response. I would be interested to hear how you get on with rectification of the defect. If you don't mind me asking, what is the extent of the defect.

Like I said in an earlier post, I will be looking to get mine refurbished in the spring, so would welcome your honest feedback once everything is resolved.

Cheers

Anthony,

Ive popped in tonight, shown them the defect and the cars in this Wednesday for a refurb. Had a good inspection today and found the same issue with 2 wheels. The guys called it sag, where the powder coat has gathered in an area a bit too thick, when baked the area around it sags. This dosent really bother me, mistakes happen and so far they are handeling it very well. The proof will be in the collection Wednesday evening. Ill advise more then.

Cheers

Anthony, I collected the car tonight, redone as promised, apologies all around. Im 92% happy with the job. One has a very small scratch on it and the lacquer feels a bit rough where the spoke from the wheel shadows the rim, if that makes sence. Lacquer has a bit of dust in too. To look at they are just about perfect, bar the small scratch. I am rediculously fussy and have high expectations but do know when to accept and move on.

Would I recommend them? For ease and service yes, for finish, not the best, however nowadays getting everything perfect is quite a task!

Hope that gives you enough of a steer to help with your decision.

Thanks for your feedback on the company. Like you I am really fussy. Based on your comments, I may not be fully satisfied with the completed product. I think I might do a bit more research prior to getting them refurbished. I've a couple of months to find the right company as they won't be getting done until they are taken off in the spring.

Cheers
