Hey guys, dunno how many people will read this being stuck on the end of this post . . but I don't want to fit a sat nav myself (because i WILL) break something. So I found this website http://www.primeprestige.com/oemretrofits/satnav-seat.shtm
and they'll do the mid range system for me for £400 or the dvd for £720.

The only thing is it's in Leeds, so i've got two questions.

1) Has anyone used these before or know anyone who has?
2) I found that company totally randomly and would like one thats in the Liverpool/Manchester area any links?

oh and p.s.
Will it void my warranty ( my car is an 08)(I dont care anyway I think lol)

Cheers for your time guys! If I get a quick response I might drive down today an get it done :D

dont pay the £70 before having a go yourself mate, it really is a piece of wee wee. dans guide here tells you everything you need to know, and if theres anything your unsure of, just ask. i bet theres a couple of members near you that would be willing to help if need be, or hang on and go to a meet or a rr day.

i dont know if youve read this in their faq section;
'Q. Are your sat nav units brand new?
A. Although our units are 2nd user, we could lie to you and tell you they were as they're all in an almost 'as-new' condition... but we're not like that, we'll tell you that they aren't brand new when other installers probably would as once they're fitted you'd be hard pressed to tell otherwise.'

Yeah but the guide shows a lot of taking fascia's off, I did that in my old Rover and they never go back on the same. I just dont want to scratch , rip , tear , brake anything.

Yeah I saw there refurb's but tbh I don't think they'll be a difference, it's like buying a refurbed computer. Just have to look for scratches on the screen.

I would want somewhere closer though, driving there add's another £40 petrol

you need a new surround anyway, and a handful of clips. (about £10)

it really is as simple as sliding the old out and the new in. tha fascia is awkward(ish) but anyone can do it. theres vids on youtube somewhere, done in under a minute!

Hmm the other thing is buying one thats not a foreign import or got old software on it. I'm not bothered about taking the fascia off, it's putting the arial around the column an into the roof I dont want to do

Ah so you didn't have to remove any other fascia's apart from the radio 1? ok cool

So if I had

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-MFD2-DVD-N....c0.m14&_trkparms=65:3|66:2|39:1|293:2|294:50

and

A fascia? The one's on ebay are £40 :s am I looking at the wrong thing?

That'd be it. I'm guessing I wouldnt get a dash display then.

fascias and clips work out around £10 from any dealer so guess you are looking at the wrong thing.

and that unit is an mfd2. the mfd3 is light years ahead.

I have the same unit and the same can bus by the sound of it.
I upgraded the firmware and the clock is now showing on the rns510 so it's no problem.
You need firmware 1100 or above for this.

Hi Paul can you confirm that you have the Seat multi media system and not the Vw one,as I cannot locate a firmware update for the Seat rns 510 .What is the F/W number 11--? Also any pics of the display with clock showing on unit .

Thanks

Hi Nick

I read on the VW Navi forum that the vw1100 firnware is designated to vw rns510 as that one has a Sd card reader and the upgrade freezes on the SEAT unit when the firmware tries to install the SD reader info.
Only concerned as I don`t want to brick my mfd3 !

Hey so i'm getting an built in sat nav now, it's on its way.

But I need the fascia? Do I just ring the dealer, whats the key words? "Seat MFD3 fascia"? or is it a specific code I need to say?

I scanned the thread but couldn't find the specifics.

Yes , Just ask your dealer for that and they will want your VIN number or reg to match up the dash board colour as there are a few shades of grey dependant on model etc .
I was lucky and the inset colour of my SEAT mfd3 is the same as my dash on a cupra. So if you get the option when ordering your mfd3 ,try to match colour of unit with dash ( your dealer will tell you ,your dash colour).
I think the colour of the VWmfd3 inset is gloss black ,which kinda goes with anything.:)

Just to let you know I used OEM Retrofits or Prestige in Leeds (they are the same) to fit a VW MFD3 to my 09 Leon in June. For about £1k they fitted the the MFD3 (with latest maps) plus the Fiscon Bluetooth kit. The kit fully integrates with the MFD3 and is great setup. Installed in about 2/3 hours - very small outift but all done very professionally with no problems.

Only able to find another 2 people willing to fir the mfd3's both on ebay - a guy in London and a car electrics place in Leicester both dearer than OEM.

are there any display differences in the v4 software or is it a 'behind the scenes' software update?
