i think im a but fooked if i have done the delock as i cant manually lock anything!!

is that vacho tacho the thing to use for auto windows too aint it , are them contorfeit ones any good

Yeah "de-locking" could scupper the plans to add another key, or at least program it to the central locking.

Not sure if a stealers has an alternate method??

OK i have a vag tacho cable on its way, so anyone local to Ponty / Cardiff can borrow it.

Once I get my cable... how do I go about coding up the transponder (i've bought a new transponder too)

Evening chaps... well I've finally won a fleebay auction for a 3 button flip key so hopefully will be doing this next week!

Just had a look through the above guide and it says to use the existing key in the ignition and the new key on the outside but the poster above seems to be saying the opposite.

Could I clear up that it is the new key you use outside as you are programming the car to remember the new key (not an existing one which is in the ignition)?

I'm going to rob the transponder out of the spare key so I shouldn't need to do any funky stuff with VAG-Com, etc. Just gotta try and not loose the spring

Cheers,
dave

Just got the flip key through from ebay :D and thought I'd swap it over but guess what... no success!!!

I started by using nail polish to stripping the transponder out which seemed to loosen everything out and then guess what... the :censored: glass snapped! [:@] Just to check it still works I put it in the spare and started the car and it seems to work ok. Is it screwed? I've put some insulating tape round it for now.

The second thing that's screwed is the top end of the key... I started gently prizing the key apart which didn't seem to do anything, luckily I was doing it from the inside of the key rather than the outside and it's not shifted at all. Any ideas on how to split the car apart?

Cheers,

Is there an easy way to get the emblem off, I've been seriously struggling with the VW sign and making a bit of a mess of the plastic whilst I very slowly chip away at it - it doesn't seem to want to peel or flick off as I was hoping.

I love cars!!!

Evening... well I eventually got the key sorted, the cutter I went to gave me some guff about not guaranteeing the key as it was from ebay, etc I said not to worry got some spares. Anyway first off he'd not taken enough off but it wouldn't even go in the lock[:@] so went back today shaved a bit more off and it fitted fine:lol:

So got home printed off the coding bit and mine didn't pip the horn/lights/etc and didn't seem to do anything so in the end gave up went to lock the car and thought why not try the new key... it works:shrug::wtf::funk:

So now I need to book in and get the transponder codings set with the immobiliser and I'll be sweet as!!!

Just out of interest the key cutter had a transponder coding machine but couldn't read the code from my existing key?!?! MEH!!!

I had no such joy at Timpsons, one side was hardly cut at all. In the end I sent a photo to someone on ebay, received wuth 24 hours and it worked like a dream!!!!

Still not sure how they did it - but a great service none the less

Timpsons wouldn't do mine either, had to go to a "proper" locksmith/key cutter. It must be that the groove needs to be a certain depth and the pattern would've been scaleable and the locks aren't that specific (within a bit of tolerance?!?!)

as an update after I did the coding put up my last post. Went out after to try it again and nothing... the original remote didn't even unlock the doors, opened with the key and then tried again both worked  I dunno!!!

I've not tried a 3 button key. But for me the frequesncy was irrelevant. I think I showed my frequencies in the pic. But yeah worked for me
