I see lol thats shnazzle appreciate that i couldnt quite get my head round it. The check valve on the cylinder head must shut above idle or something . Mind boggling lol i assumed it would need to come of a boost pipe or something. Would you say its worth putting a boost gauge on or not ?

It only shuts on boost. Boost doesn't start at idle. Depends on your throttle position and engine load. You can drive around town and never hit boost if you drive like a ganny. I've tried for fun :) hehe

I had a boost gauge in. It's great as a diagnosis tool. But it's one of those things that's a gimmick 99% of the time. But if you learn to read a boost/vacuum gauge it can tell you a lot about your engine.
This was ours in our old yellow CupraR

Ur right mate. Ive had one on my previous car and its great for the first day or so then its never really looked at again. Much did that one cost above ?
Paid 100 euros for it. It had a custom bevel, which is what really made it. Although the Omori gauge was spot on and almost OEM look

All sold now. As is the R :)

Great guide and photos. I followed it on my mk2 Cupra and was exactly as described. Only difference, i used the Dimming light switch (grey wire) rather than fuse box for the power so that my gauge lights up only when my lights are On (this works only for mechanical boost gauge/without the sensor :).

Important Note: For those who use a mechanical gauge the 1mm vacuum nipple should be used (the small one from Boost gauge fitting kit), if you use the 3mm that i tried will probably get noise on the gauge. Responsiveness is good was not greatly affected. For those that do not used the Boost gauge fitting kit they will need a restrictor of 1mm diameter.

Thank you so much for this. Been looking for this for ages! But a heads up, the forge website link isn't right now, but they do still sell the kit.
