Ignition barrel not accepting key - jammed?

a couple of times now my ignition barrel seems to lock over and jam, by that I mean it does not accept the key into it

Ive sprayed a small amount of WD40 in, thinking that may help free up any sticky parts, but there does seem to be a small metal plate coming over from left to right, as you look at the vertical key slot...

until I get the key into the lock I cannot move or drive the car

has anyone else experienced this odd problem?

It’s on it’s way out chap, eventually you won’t be able to start the car,it will drive you nuts in the long run, main dealer new barrel from factory 2/3 week wait from Spain cost around £300
With out s.c.n where would we be?
